i thought so, too, a while ago. it was horrible. but then i simply started to phrase the question much much longer (on google, don't know about the duck) and got much better results again. a lot of weird, fun stuff, too.

But to be serious: the world is big, plenty of analog stuff to do, you have to unlearn, relearn, relocate, reconnect. Don't watch the news. Do it at your own pace. There are mellow death cults, accelerationist ones, AI assisted, MAGA ones, and you can ignore them all. You can still engineer more than whatever you want in 15 years and you'll feel AI as much as you felt those patches and upgrades to Kernel, OS, framework and your favorite languages. You have control.
