In germany we have a drought right now. I never assumed that we in germany get water issues.
Now farmers said things like 'i have never seen so little water at this time of year in the 30 years im a farmer'.
I don't have the feeling we are recognizing the elephant in the room.
My personal take on this is to buy a farm, buy water reserve tanks, have a little garden and trying to become independend. Which is not a bad plan in general as it helps to cut costs down anyway if you do it smart enough. Its not that i get money when i put it in the bank and corona showed how volatile shares can be.
I had to learn this as well and realized this in my last company that you can build something which already exists.
Mentally speaking: I have optimized my thinking on not doing things twice, not being wasteful, lean, reusing components etc.
If it is solved, there is little reason why i would/should solve it again and yes from a pure thinking perspective, it would make sense to pool all resources together to have one car brand.
The same with a Toaster. Make one good Toaster, make it slightly configurable so you have choices in color and thats it.
This type of efficient thinking is why i get paid.
It is still a hard balance to strike between "In Iran they still hang you on a car crane" vs. "My circle of people is accepting and moved along already a few years ago".
I use them for
- Tracking work on specific jira tickets
- Giving myself a simple/quick overview on what was done
- Tracking down bugs by trying to understand if that code is doing what it should do (bug vs. on purpose)
- If i need to revert something, i revert a git commit. might just happend once a year but if required its fundamental
I'm also always slightly surprised about discussions from this topic: Its a nobrainer to just do it.
Its cumbersome if you have to explain to colleges, who are working with code for longer then a few month, why you should just write proper git commits.
It is like 'i'm allowed to write code which does a lot if things but pls exlpain to me again how i write a proper git commit message' :(
There is not a single proof in existence, that this book is not more then a story equivalent to Harry Potter or any other Fairy tale.
And then the issues just start...
A omnipotent she/he/it who thought 'yeah going to earth 2000 years ago is the perfect and only timing i will ever go to earth', then creates humans (which are much older than that and we know that well enough) and then never comes back and helps us?
How can you take so much time on this Text while ignoring all issues this Text contains? All the contradictions? All the advise which is either sexist, rassist, homophobe, non homophobe etc.?
I really really want to know, what other people think, when they read the bible every week like in a bible study, just to either:
- Following it
- Not following it but finding an excuse why certain things are ignored
- Don't follow it and don't bring up any excuse.
How many Christians do you know, who are dicks?
How many people here are reading the Bible, believe in this stuff and don't get out and help others?
Fuck you all hypocrites reading the bible, believing in god and doing shit for society because of a comfortable / easy living and shitty excuses.
