Nonsense. We had stable prices before the gambling functions were possible. The gambling functions of the market add nothing of value, and produce no economic output.

>Cynical because it doesn't acknowledge the value that a well functioning and regulated financial system can create.

You don’t need gambling to have a well functioning financial system.

The price of goods at Walmart is not based on what uninterested bettors think the price should. It’s just based on supply and demand.

We don’t need gambling to have a functioning financial market.

What’s happening is that the masses now have access to do the same absurd gambling that the “experts” have been doing for a century. The only way out is to remove the gambling functions from the market.

But then that would require that traders go get actual jobs, and produce actual value. I think these people would rather see the US burn than do that.

The only thing missing is anti-cheat. I don’t know if it will ever happen.

They have pro versions of their phones. It doesn’t mean anything anymore.

I doubt this. Apple may end up with a massive competitive advantage over other laptops. I doubt Microsoft and PC OEMs are just going to stand on the sideline and watch Apple eat their lunch.

I would expect there to be an arms race on... ARM. And maybe MS suddenly stops treating Windows on ARM as a hobby project.

Why are all the top comments about UberEats or food delivery apps? UberEats isn't mentioned in the article at all and this has nothing to do with food delivery whatsoever. I thought I was in the wrong comment section at first... but nope.

My wife and I were exclusively using Seamless until we read an article in Eater talking about how Grubhub/Seamless charge restaurants $6-7+ per phone call.[0]

..but then when we started trying to call or order directly through restaurants, we kept getting turned away and told to order through one of the apps. It seems many (most?) restaurants aren't in a position to take orders over the phone or directly through their website, even for pickup.
