I'm not saying you're wrong, but that graph doesn't show anything with regards to whether or not middle-class folks have been hit with austerity.

Federal outlays are not granular enough and increasing Federal outlays is pretty meaningless.

You should pay more because you aren't covering the actual costs.

Because trains cost money? Everything can't be free or cost less just because you wish it so.

I'm a big proponent of no-fare subway's, but I don't think the MTA should just do that without a revenue source to replace rider fares. It would result in a completely broken subway system.

Middle class folks that work in the city don't drive from NJ into NY, and for the few that do, they should get on a train because it will save them money today and after this goes into effect.

> Car congestion fees are touted but they are rarely effective

Citation needed. All studies I have seen suggest that congestion pricing achieves its desired outcomes of reducing car traffic and is the most effective way of doing so.

This is, and I cannot overstate this, one of the most ridiculous, tech bro statements I've read on here in a while.

We (mostly) don't create money out of thin air. We borrow it. This obligation acts as a limit on money supply inflation.

Also, slight, but mostly consistent inflation is far better for everyone than what the US went through in it's first 150 years as a country.

The average American household is worth more than $1MM and the median is close to $200k. All time highs, even adjusting for all the inflation.

WTI crude has fallen for 7 weeks straight. NatGas futures have been in an unbelievable steady state at around $2.50-2.75 after coming down from pandemic highs.

Why do you all insist on making shit up?

Yes, after 2 decades of screeching from the "helicopter money" crowd, we suffered a short bout of inflation.

A reminder: Inflation is a hardship, a short one in this instance, unemployment is a crisis.

I def use Reddit a lot less than I used to, but I caved and installed the official app. But now I use it sparingly because it such a shitty experience.

But they are going to be made whole, or nearly so. It may take a while, but the guy they brought in to untangle FTX is the same guy that untangled Enron. He's said that FTX always had enough assets to cover its obligation, at least on paper, it just sucked at keeping track of them.

The US has officially been transitioning to the metric system since the 1970's and the metric system is widely used in official capacities throughout the US and the US government.

Seattle, Washington for sure. We are further north than a significant portion of the population of Canada.

There is a huge difference between the 1970's and now. Light, lot's of it. We have so much more light today then in the 70's, our headlights are brighter, we have more street lamps, and so much more.

We'll also see more northern states adopt permanent DST while southern states adopt permanent ST. Kids already go to school in the dark in the northern states, but they also come home in it too. This change will give them some daylight in the afternoon to go out and socialize.

MSFT tried to brute force their way into the mobile market. App developers wouldn't take their money.
