> There is really one ultimate question here: "Is this the best use of our tax dollars?".

The government has far more ways of financing things than taxes. I’m not sure why we refer to money this way—it’s fundamentally disingenuous. A federal budget is not the same thing as a household budget in any way.

Politics feels like an integral part of finding a partner nowadays. Which makes sense—values are important to agree upon.

> They have both positive and negative consequences.

They have zero positive consequences for anyone but manufacturers.

I like this take a lot. I also think that America competing on manufacturing is obviously never going to happen.

I’m surprised most manufactures even offer individual sales!

Give me a way to filter out results with ads on them please.

Edit (hn doesn’t let me post this fast): is finding places to buy shit really an issue? How many times in your life have you thought “damn I know what I want to buy, I just don’t know from which site to buy it”? That’s hard to imagine of anyone. This user story just seems like a problem made up by search indexes to court capital.

Edit2: Kagi is great. I'm a full subscriber.

> If the environment is continually shouting at you it's hard to hear the whispers, where the meaning is.

So do we currently live lives completely devoid of meaning? That's certainly what it feels like. That's certainly what the color schemes available to us connote.

So much fear of meaning we remove all meaning from our environment....

Man the world you paint is just not one I want to live in. Without color what's the damn point? I'd rather be corny than have to live like this.

You can trust me, facile3232, instead. I will improve upon all things the leader of automattic.com failed to improve upon.

I suppose it depends on what you want from 9front. If you want a terminal with decent power management you should just buy a mac.

> If you like you can experiment with this on a used laptop with supported hardware, thinkpad best.

I would avoid laptops altogether, honestly. Not a great fit.

> You can boot a Linux kernel with an nfs root from the local machine and use headless vnc to run a browser in a vnc client window.

Not only is the VNC redirection unnecessary, so it is the entire filesystem. You could just render the vm directly to the window and boot a read only image. Plus then you don't have to deal with VNC.
facile3232

It's probably easier to just run a VM directly into a window.

Atp it's probably easier to just smash firefox/linux into a vm
