> a) a sizeable fraction of voters are not able to recognize AI-generated text b) many who notice don't care, or are willing to overlook it if the premise is interesting enough.

agreed.

For me, the issue I have is that a vocal group seems to despise AI-edited content and they can't manage to take their disgust eleswhere.

AI-editing is another tool, just like spellcheck.

My brother in tech. If anyone wanted to prove voter fraud it's President Donald Trump. Trump's campaign filed 62 lawsuits. 61 were lost, dismissed, or dropped. The other was a technicality. IANAL.

Get the vagueposting out of here.

I've always wondered if we could find a way to add content website's content without it turning into a shitshow. MLS listings / Zillow is an interesting use-case. A realtor might describe something as "sun-filled" but omit that the home is next to a 24/7 dump truck repair warehouse.

Go a step further and switch to Mint, T-mobile's pay-as-you-go subsidiary. I'm paying $180/year for a single line. I've been on mint for ~3 years now.

On Mint your traffic is routed with lower priority than T-Mobile's main customers. In practice, I have only experienced this at busy airports and an MLB game - where basically service dropped to near zero. This is in the Boston area. Obviously not ideal if you're in those conditions regularly. Otherwise it's been awesome.

If the service is of interest my referral code is below. It gets you a $15 renewal credit for joining. Will the winds of votes love or hate a referral code? Who knows! apologies if I'm out of bounds. (I don't understand why it's out of bounds)

I inherited an S3 bucket where hundreds of thousands of files were written to the bucket root. Every filename was just a uuid. ls might work after waiting to page though to get every file. To grep you would need to download 5 TB.

We will never get back the collective man-decades of time that has been burned by this format. When will the madness stop?

TIL that there is a W3C WebMonetization spec - thanks for sharing.

Taking a look, it seems quite underwhelming[0] :( Lack of monetization on the web gave us the ad-driven content model that LLMs are now hovering up.

Have there been any other proposals for monetization?

For desktop folks, I use the Stylebot Chrome Extension https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/stylebot/oiaejidbmk...

I crank up the font size and set a serif font on the index page to make it easier to scan.

I had the same issue. Was able to use it to join via the discord app ("add a server").

OP didn't give say politics had anything to do with it. Let them nerd up if they want to.

Centralization around specific platforms has plusses and minuses. Having alternatives drives innovation.

I really like this idea! Could you share more about your letters?

What sorts of things do you include? I assume different topics for different people. Do the loved ones know that these letters exist?

I'm pretty sure that the owners of Belmont Books in Belmont, MA also opened their store out of a love of bookstores & the community surrounding it. Best of luck to you! https://www.belmontbooks.com/ (no affiliation)

Gatsby gets shit on a lot - which I think is a but unfair. I find it to be a solid, well-documented platform. It has some rough spots, but show me a platform that doesn't.

The author also complains that:

> I couldn’t build the site locally or upgrade dependencies, leaving it outdated since 2019

This is true of many things in the javascript ecosystem. In react/node/js-land you HAVE to invest in maintenance (and re-writes) or be left with a legacy codebase that just might not work one day if npm install fails.

Mineis called README.md or notes.txt I use a similar hierarchical format - I use tabs for the hierarchy. I use markdown for most notes, but I find it somewhat incompatible with the tab-based note-taking that I prefer.

I share this in case there are others out there who work the same way. Let's band together to establish a tab-friendly Markdown variant!

From a compliance POV what's an acceptable alternative? Would some unix variant be any more palatable?

> Self hosted option? I'm sure that would drive people to adopt the likely great tech behind this.

It's a pretty compelling product. At my org we have a ton of components that we'd need to "brickify" to make them available in the editor. It's hard to justify the integration and maintenance effort with a SaaS. And hard give up the core of publishing to a 3rd party.
