the interview process was rewritten at coreweave by a bunch of hired google engineers to reflect the rest of the industry about a month before they went public. at the time they were prepping for IPO they started to hire from other fortune 500s aggressively, and the whole company went from startup to same shit as the valley over about 6 months. when i interviewed the process was shockingly simple, like literally tell me how to fetch json in go, and by the time i left it was 6 rounds targeted to take two months.

i’ve become convinced that the devs that talk about having to fix the code are the same ones that would make incredibly poor managers. when you manage a team you need to be focused on the effect of the code not the small details.

this sort of developer in a pair programming exercise would find themselves flustered at how a junior approached problem solving and just fix it themselves. i strongly suspect the loss of a feeling of control is at play here.

sure, but no one is making love to their wife so they can feed and house their family. work is not something most people do for pleasure, it is forced on them. this is a clear misrepresentation to frame the argument as stupid, the literal definition of a straw man argument.

i'm dropping my subaru for this among other reasons.

1. throttle response, move your foot to 20% and experience between no throttle and wide open as the 'turbos' kick in in my outback

2. every time we get near an intersection with bollards, it thinks it's a kid and slams on the brakes

3. you're not allowed to persist auto start disabling

4. you will be nagged for looking anywhere other than dead straight, especially if looking around a curve, you'll get beeped at

5. sometimes when driving the main 'touchscreen' just dies, takes about 5 minutes to reboot, and the entire time i have no climate or audio control, luckily the adaptive cruise control seems to stay working, you just can't reenable it...

babel-node is also very nice, and more lenient about type checking. i've discovered nodemon with babel node gives me the ability to hack something together and adding a tsc build pipeline helps me correct the types when i'm done
