I don’t know the appropriate way to celebrate this but I most definitely will. If there’s a hell, he’s going to find out what it means. (I don’t believe there is a hell.)
AI has helped us all lose the plot because now we don’t just know better than everyone else, we can prove it by project managing our better versions of the same things.
What I find really great is that we’re only a prompt or two away from proper docs for these novel solutions but we still don’t make them and if we do, we definitely don’t read them first.
Oh man... If I thought a sandwich could travel... Freshly Baked Eatery in downtown San Jose. Hands down my favorite sandwich place on the planet. The bread is always fresh. It wouldn't survive a flight from SJC to AUS and I'm moving even further in a few weeks. One of th top five things I miss about the bay area.
I was recently chatting with an old coworker. Their mother is still in Russia. The mother watches state run TV and listens to state run news.
She doesn't really believe this is happening because the news says otherwise. She may believe there is some fighting but not that Russia is the aggressor.
Obviously this is one relayed experience but it's important to keep propaganda machines in mind when talking about volumes of support.
And that is how you measure whether or not the goal setting is valuable. The company I work with has found their way to the OKR model. Personally, I'm a fan, if they're used correctly. Objectives should be the thing that drives work. It's the "what" and often the "why" part of the equation. Key results are the "how" in "how are we going to achieve that objective?" and in "how do we know if we've succeeded?" If those objectives and key results aren't driving work and, more importantly, being used as a shield against unplanned work that isn't aligned, then they're not useful. I've seen both and I quickly stop participating when the model isn't used correctly. Models lime this are only valuable when they are part of the core of the org. When they're lip service, they're a major hit to both trust and morale.
