I love the buttons, would loath a touchscreen on this size format. Just add a backlight!

I love my X4 as well, and would love a backlight. Crosspoint and its downline forks are great.

the only funny thing about the X4 is reading it in bright sunlight. it will corrupt the image on the screen on page turn unless you shade it? something to do w/ older eInk screens and not having a UV Filter. weird, slightly annoying.

Its increased my reading 2-3x though!

+1 for Yoto, our kids (5-7) have abused them for years. The Make Your Own cards let me create full length audiobooks, playlists, etc..

super stuff

Results Generation | Cloud & DevOps Engineer | Austin, TX (Hybrid)

We're a digital marketing platform company running a fleet of PHP/Lumen microservices on GCP, and supporting/rebuilding a legacy monolith. Small team, no bureaucracy, real infrastructure problems — multi-cluster Kubernetes, async messaging, database replication, content delivery at scale.

You'll own day-to-day infrastructure operations: multi-cluster Kubernetes, Terraform-driven GCP resources, Jenkins CI/CD pipelines, and on-call. Hands-on role — you're the person keeping production reliable and making it better.

Stack: GCP (GKE, Cloud SQL, GCS, Secret Manager, Workload Identity), Kubernetes, Terraform + Atlantis, Jenkins, Helm 3, Docker, MySQL (primary + replicas), RabbitMQ, Redis/Dragonfly, Elasticsearch, Grafana/Prometheus, Scalyr, Flux, Ansible.

Looking for: 3-5 years with cloud infrastructure in production. Solid Kubernetes and Terraform experience. Comfortable operating MySQL with replication. On-call experience — you've been paged and written postmortems. Networking fundamentals (VPNs, private endpoints, DNS, TLS).

Nice to have: GCP-specific experience, RabbitMQ, Elasticsearch, GitOps tooling, multi-cloud or cross-cloud migration experience.

So does Apple's Mail Client. So do most webmail providers. Open signals are generally worthless.

You cannot run a standard distro (easily) - their software (DSM) is linux based and they expose most of the stock services like Docker and libvirt

There are still a few rough spots surrounding Docks, external monitors, and HiDPI (if you went 4k).

Additionally, I had to jump through a few more hoops in order to get Thermal Throttling under control, increase the battery life to a usable level, etc..

I'm sure that all these things will eventually get rolled in as more users get X1E's, but overall the Pop!_OS experience has been smooth for the Newness of the hardware
