We were admitted into Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)’s regulatory sandbox since 2019, and granted the Singapore's first Capital Market Services licence to provide independent digital asset custody services.

We're looking for a Director of Security Ops to help improve the security of our platform, architect solutions for our platform from a security angle, and undertake compliance related work. The right person would possess experience in software engineering, cyber security and blockchain.

We use Zenhub with Github issues. Zenhub adds more structure over Github project. It hit the sweet spot for small teams, not too basic where we can't use it to run our processes, yet not so bloated where we need a manual for doing things. The tight integration with Github is a big win for us. But you can't customise things so when the team gets bigger we expect to move.

Well I'm the founder of a startup, funded, and actively hiring. I'm considered old myself(late thirties), so I see the value of experience.

Going through the variables.

A - no. B - no. I tried that in my previous company, it won't work unless everybody buys in. C - no. D - yes. E - toss up. The average age of the management is in the late 30s, the average age of the whole team is in the mid-late thirties. No twenty plus young kids(rarity in startups nowadays). We've seen shit, made many mistakes, so we're hopefully on the way to becoming better managers F - hell yes. Both founders have kids. Overall it is positive. Be mentally prepared, the percentage that eventually make it to demo day is not high. I came to EF to look for my co-founder. The quality of the cohort is phenomenal(on paper that is), albeit most are first time founders. There are researchers, engineers and domain experts all coming from diverse industries/fields. As the cohort size is so big, there are many possibilities. They will not so gently nudge you towards forming a team with complementary strengths and great fit to the problem. The scary part - when you look at teams that present on demo day, they look like a team tailor-made for the problem. What is the probability of that happening organically in the wild? Go for it, just the friendships cultivated with the cohort of great people is worth it.

There're accelerators that take in applicants pre-idea, pre-team pioneered by Entrepreneur First(https://www.joinef.com/) from the UK. The cohort size is about 100, and the founders come from diverse industries and backgrounds. It vastly increases the odds of finding a co-founder - a person who has complementary skills, is committed, and wants to start the company at the same time. Though the thought of starting a company with a stranger can be hard to fathom, you have 3 months to test out the working relationship with different people before committing.
