It looks like a paraglider requires a minimum of 30 yards of runway to take off and land (assuming there's nothing obstructing it at the end of those 30 yards, like trees), with some pilots suggesting 150 yards without tall trees to safely take off. I could see that being an issue in a lot of areas, especially mountainous areas where flat areas are only in the valley.
That said, I don't have any personal experience with paragliders, so perhaps there are VTOL options?
For 5 users, it seems like it would be a waste -- easy enough to hand-hold everyone through setting up a tablet. For 5000 people, I could see paying someone else to manage the technology and providing a 'one-click' solution.
Many people, when done a favor, want to repay it. So when you praise a person to their boss, they're more likely to be on the lookout for opportunities to praise you in return.
Speaking from my own experience, I tend to be a quiet person who doesn't say much. However, since joining my current team, and having consistently received compliments from both managers and teammates (and seen the same getting passed around to others), it has lead me to make a point of looking for opportunities to do the same. It's become the norm to compliment others on their good work, and passing that up the chain and through official channels when the opportunity presents itself.
You can do pretty well with next to nothing. I spent three months hitchhiking and couchsurfing my way through the US and Canada, covering roughly 20,000 miles and staying with dozens of hosts. I started with $700 in my account, and still had a few hundred left by the end of the trip. Had I wanted to be more frugal, and not get 'local food' when someone suggested something especially good, I probably could have gotten by with less.
So it's true that you need something....but you can do it with little enough that $25 can be a significant part of your budget.
Agreed. I did get a chest x-ray about 2 months after it started (and the rest of the cold symptoms had gone away), to see if there was anything there. Nothing found yet, but I am due for another check-in. This is a good reminder to do so :)
I'm on MyFitnessPal as well, and completely agree with the food library! Though it's a bit of a pain that there's a lot of incorrect data in that library -- mostly typos or mistakes from whomever first input the data.
Nice on getting stronger! I did my first 50 miler last week, and it's got me thinking that I might want to find a group once this whole thing blows over.
One of the best things I heard from my company's CEO when they moved everyone over to WFH was 'your productivity is going to go down. It just is. It doesn't matter if you were fully WFH before, it's going to go down. And that's ok. And I've told your managers to expect it, and to not let you stress over it.'
Then leadership modified the metrics that bonuses are calculated on, so that the slowdown wouldn't affect our ability to get them.
Strengthening my lungs. I've had a persistent cough for over 6 months, and decided that with a respiratory-based pandemic going around, I ought to do what I can to get rid of it, or at least strengthen my lungs while I have the chance. So I've picked up running and cycling, and have gotten more exercise in than I have in years.
And after deciding to pair it with some calorie monitoring, I've gone down almost 5 kg since C-19 started!
