Specifically, the Masters is the most elite napping weekend of the year.

IANAP, but a layman's understanding: the materials that we have available today to conduct electricity at or around room temperatures largely do so in an inefficient manner. As electricity moves through the material, some energy is wasted in the form of ejected heat.

To circumvent this, physicists discovered superconductivity: a state in which a material is a perfectly efficient conductor of electricity. Thus far, to create a superconductive material requires keeping that material at extreme conditions of temperature and pressure.

A room-temperature superconductor is a game-changer because we could get nearly-perfect energy efficient electric conduction without the additional energy overhead it takes to keep the material at such a dense pressure or extreme temperature. Such a material would have wide applications across a variety of disciplines.

Here's a useful article as well: https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/0953-2048/26/11/1...

I want this too, but I guess the folks in Cupertino would rather upsell us a watch.

I'm trying out the Oura ring right now. It's really nice, especially for sleep tracking, but it doesn't fill up my rings in Apple Health the way my Watch does. It writes calories, for instance, to the "Active Energy" category, not the "Activity" one which corresponds to the ring.

Really annoying. Apple needs to figure out if it's a luxury watch company or a fitness watch company, or design specific products for both of those categories. Nobody works out with a Rolex on and eventually push will come to shove.

I really wish Apple would make a standalone fitness tracker. (They'd rather upsell me a Watch, but, still...)

Just give me all of the Health-related aspects of the watch without anything else. It doesn't even have to have a display — I can view Health data on my phone. I LOVE my Watch but there are circumstances where a mechanical watch is the way to go.

One could argue that the iPad is intended to do the same thing to the MacBook line. Obviously the iPhone is a bigger driver of Apple's business, which changes the circumstances somewhat.
