Thank you for your detailed feedbacks Maddynator! This is very helpful for a new project like this! Your points are all valid. I'm still exploring better ways to make it more clear to users, that this is a Dashboard site with widgets, like you said, similar to Apple widgets but it can be used anywhere (just sign in). The focus is minimalist design, which shouldn't include too many elements on the screens (titles, buttons..) which I agree, not very user-friendly for new users. This is more useful on tablets or computers where you need to quickly grab information (like a Start Page) from different/custom widgets (weather, news, posts, rss, other site embeds..) without opening too many tabs. I'm actively adding more features and widgets, like your idea about Calendar. New features like Shared Dashboard, Team Dashboard will be added after getting more usage data. I'm dogfooding, using this one daily, so maintenance (and development) is not an issue. Thanks again for your great inputs! (and video!). Cheers :)
Hi Mrirazak1, weather is just one 'widget' on the dashboard. There are other widgets you can use like: Embed (show news pages, forum posts..), notes (for todo lists, quick notes..).
See some Dashboard Examples here to understand the use cases: https://github.com/ngduc/dashb/blob/main/examples.md
I think this is more useful for bigger screens (tablets, computers) where you can quickly see many data sources at once, without opening many tabs, or apps.
Hi HN, I have been busy working on this little project.
I know there are some dashboard sites out there but I wanted to reimagine the dashboard & widget idea, going toward a minimalist design. (dark mode first :) )
We all struggle to find ourself waking up with multiple tabs, gathering different sources of information for a new day.
This is some effort to optimize that workflow, simplify the morning routine, hope to come up with something useful for everyone.
Check it out, let me know if you have any ideas. Cheers. https://www.dashb.io

- I'm using OpenAI to process data for now, but it's extendable, I'm doing R&D to compare other LLMs like Claude 2, etc.
- It works well with 1 to 2 hours video transcripts. I haven't tested with longer videos yet.
