I think it's very natural that code in questions is vulnerable to SQL injections as it should be a stripped down example demonstrating the issue that the poster is dealing with, not necessarily a copy-paste of code that's in production.
I created a fork of AnyBar with added support for specifying an icon id for any icon from icons8.com and the status icon will change to it. https://github.com/niklasberglund/AnyBar-icons
Just now quickly whipped it together. Needs improvement(error handling and asynchronous downloading) and packages.
Agreed. Any plans on releasing this open source? Would be cool if others who are interested could set up country-by-country versions for Asia for example. Like one for Vietnam, Japan etc.
The developer portal at https://developer.nutiteq.com mentions OpenStreetMap, but the start and product pages doesn't. No link either. Perhaps you provide more sources, I haven't looked into the product very carefully. Your support told me OSM is used as map data source, didn't mention any other source. My understanding of the OSM license agreement is that you have to make it more explicit. But I'm no lawyer.
Also thinking about this. Wouldn't it be a good idea to open source it and cut down on your staffs' working hours. Seems like you got a fairly big user base so there should be developers out there willing to contribute. Perhaps you could cut down on your costs and merge pull request from open source contributors.
I don't mind free stuff, but to be honest I don't see why you release it for free. Seems like you had something sustainable going on. One person selling everything he owns to pay 3 persons' salaries don't seem sustainable.
You don't necessarily have to do low level stuff with C/C++. Sure you'll still be dealing with pointers etc, but my point is it doesn't have to be very low level just because it's C/C++. Depending on what you want to implement it might be a good idea to use a framework such as Qt. http://qt-project.org/
I misunderstood the writer, thought he/she meant anyone from anywhere in the world can get a Chinese passport. But meant Chinese citizens which is a totally different story. Still wouldn't call a country's border "wide-open" because the citizens can get a passport.
