I completed the request with specified damages from the breach. I recently received a letter saying my claim was denied as I had "failed to mail the documentation," however, there was no notice on the webform that I completed that required mailing the documentation.

Clear-cuts can be used to mimic natural disturbance. Specifically, patch cuts (a small clear cut), can increase biological diversity, reduce fire risk, and increase forest resiliency. Certain species, such as Douglas Fir, do best if the intention is to regrow Douglas Fir with clear-cuts (common western commercial forestry practice). Also, a selection harvest in a Douglas Fir stand would favor shade tolerant species such as fir, hemlock, and spruce. Accordingly, certain choices need to be made addressing a variety of economic and ecological considerations.

There are also old-growth forests in the United States. Many in the Upper Midwest, are in areas not on maps in 1800s due to cartographic errors. Another, Cathedral Pines in Wisconsin was not logged at the request of the timber company manager's wife, so she could continue her prayer group in the forest. Replanting is only done when economically viable and future "land use" is for regeneration of the harvested species. This is done is Pacific Northwest of the US for Douglas Fir. Replanting isn't used in US Northern Hardwood production as the stands are cut to retain trees that reproduce and in another 15-30 year period another variable retention harvest is performed [1]. Modern forestry leverages ecological theory such as disturbance regimes to mimic changes and diversify the timber stands for risk management and ecological factors [2].

Military issue equipment is often low quality[1][2]. Intel and recon is oft contracted to a similar standard. I'm not surprised that they choose Waze over the alternative.
