1. Tell everyone you don’t like to fuck off & avoid everyone who disagrees w you - stop talking to ppl who don’t work in AI and who aren’t under 25. 2. Move to SF - preferably near a university. Do everything via apps & never connect w anyone you don’t like. 3. Define what you mean by “progress” - Luddites didn't hate progress they hated the ppl who destroyed their livelihoods in the worst way for “almost” the shittiest progress known to man (now we call the progress they opposed “a sweatshop”/fast fashion). You might agree w ppl you “hate” more than you think. 4. Enjoy progress!

PM here! I have 9 years of experience across startups & big corps. Ok so here’s the thing about GTM - it’s the approach to how you will get your product in the hands of your customers, NOT how to find customer #1. Funding customer #1 is called “customer discovery” it’s how you figure how who you are building for & what problem you are solving. The data you gather & the relationships you make set you up to find those first few “earlyvangelists” who will buy what you have AS IS. GTM is what you discover/define as you develop a repeatable sales process with the first few early folks. The formal GTM comes after this, bc it’s the documentation of the validated sales hypotheses you discovered during sales validation/customer validation. The best books about this from a startup POV are by a guy named Steve Blank (“The Four Steps to the Epiphany” is great). YC uses Steve’s work heavily, I would start small first before hiring anyone - it’s critical that you know the process before you invite someone else in to tell you what you need. Hope this helps!

I love math so I understand where you are coming from: everyone should love math. But we love it because we can see the magic in it, and a child needs to be shown that type of magic to see why we love it. If you treat math like a fun skill or game that you both enjoy, that love may develop organically. Your child may also be good at something they don’t like, which is also OK. They are 10, so being “right” is probably important and since they are right a lot in math they may be bored. Do you remember what math felt like for you at 10? If you can recall those feelings & put yourself in your son’s shoes you may find add’l insights to help you further. Good luck!!!

#1 CONGRATS! If nothing is blocking you from organic user growth (4-5% week over week), keep bootstrapping. Determining what limits growth is a discovery process, not a one time question to ask. Talk to customers (potential & current) to find out why they convert at all, why they stay, & what would make them change. Look at your unit costs, app metrics, & sales/marketing pipeline (CAC). The goal is to reach everyone you want as cheaply as possible, if any part of your business isn’t doing that the cost to fix it is the thing blocking you from growing. If you can afford to change bootstrap, if you can’t raise the money fundraise. Fundraising gets you a war chest to move faster but it can also be a distraction, so do it when it’s easiest for you (i.e. the cash is chasing you not the other way around). Hope this helps!

Don't wait, launch bc you will get feedback that will help you improve the app. Waiting for more people to be interested tells you nothing, failing on a small scale (or really doing well) tells you quite a bit about next steps. Good luck!

This might still feel obvious but you’re competing against much bigger fish, to grow you need a niche. What makes you special to your customers & how can you access all of them at once, cheaply? It’s not just about ads/sales, you need to discover the trigger for your customers to buy your software & be right there to help them manage trade offs (virtually). Knowing how/why customers are choosing between you and a competitor is key… Why do folks use your app? Why might more ppl want to? Answers to these will guide your strategy & spending. Hope this helps a little!
