You don’t think the cratering sales numbers have anything to do with it?

Very cool knob. I would love to interact with this type of feedback (where it makes sense).

Funnily enough I recall using something less cool looking in a BMW 5 series from almost 20 years ago. The knob would stop rotating at the end of menu lists on screen when you could scroll no further.

It made sense, but I recall it being so novel that I spent more time trying to make it NOT move than actually just using the menu system.

BMW stopped using it for some reason.

I may know the answer to your query. You can thank my boomer dad for this one who sent an “article” about DEI eroding flying safety because airlines hire less competent people to fill positions to meet DEI quotas.

It’s unsubstantiated at best, and the “sources” from said article were themselves literally tweets from anti-DEI people shouting into the void “did some of these incidents happen because of DEI policies?” with no response from airlines.

I spent about $150 USD on a battery, 16GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD to breathe new life into a MacBook Pro 7,1. It’s only a core 2 duo and noticeably slow, but cool to see that I could do it.

I bet that SSD upgrade will be huge (or was it already an SSD in that model).

Do you want the ChatGPT of 3D printed Kleenexes or just regular?

I love that this comment comes from someone who portmanteaud a Meyers Briggs personality type with the word “penis”. It so perfectly matches the tone that self reflection and understanding have taken place without losing the rebellious attitude that obviously got them in trouble in the first place!

That is a sobering thought.

Photos is just a database file isn’t it? You could copy that file out and the import it into another instance of Photos on another Mac.

I’ve done this before to recover photos when moving around laptops.

My concern with logging into my Apple ID on my work Mac is that there is cached data installed locally. Things like messages, photos, even tabs from other devices if you’re syncing Safari… there’s just too much to consider that could potentially be recovered by IT. I think (hope) most of this stuff is encrypted (like I think iMessages is) but it still gives me pause.

Would love to be educated otherwise!
