I'm a software engineer with around two years of professional experience using Java, SQL and JavaScript.

Outside of work, I focus on systems programming and language implementation. I'm currently building a compiler in C from scratch, and I'm particularly interested in compilers, interpreters, runtimes, developer tools and low-level software in general.

I'm open to systems software, compiler or backend roles, and I'm also especially interested in startup environments.

Compatibility with PUC Lua versions after 5.1 is especially hard, given that more or less arbitrary syntactic and semantic but also C API changes have been introduced in every version since then.

That is mostly the reason why LuaJIT is stuck with a mix of 5.1 and toggled 5.2 features.

Oh, that is unexpected... I tried applying for a position at Modular a few days ago.

Tracing JIT compilers are very interesting, and there definitely needs to be more resources on such complex topic.

The only way to lessen the need of drivers would be to have more standardized and stable hardware interfaces and peripherals.

I don't know what's more bizarre, either it's SpaceX buying what is essentially a clone of VSCode with AI tools on top, or a VSCode fork being valued billions of dollars.

I really really wished they released a Raspberry Pi running a RISC-V 23 processor :(

The USB-C standard doesn't allow for a magnetic attachment. Besides, those are notoriously unsafe and probably even dangerous to use.

Have you seen Claude Code's TUI React codebase? The amount of pointless over-engineering for what is effectively just a terminal text application is pretty astounding.

Was it really necessary to cut out Magsafe?

I feel like I end up stumbling on the charging cable at least one or two times. Plus, I wouldn't be able to re-use the old Macbook charger I have :(

My parents also grew up in Soviet Moldova, I don't know what you want to educate me about.

The Soviet Union specifically pushed the idea that "Moldovan" was separate from Romanian and imposed the Moldovan Cyrillic alphabet in the MSSR while Romania itself used the Latin script. This was of course only one part of a broader [0] russification effort, alongside deportations and population transfers.

I'm also not sure how Cyrillic having been adopted in medieval times is relevant to this topic, unless you're trying to justify or connect older usages.

Cyrillic has been used as a political weapon under the Soviet Union.

For example, in soviet Moldova it was mandatory to learn to read and write cyrillic at schools. They effectively wanted to eradicate the local language and culture in favor of russian.

I don't know, it's the third language they mention to introduce, first there was Swift, for whatever reason.

I think they should be first focusing on getting to a first stable version before re-writing parts of the browser.

It baffles me that virtually all ARM and RISC-V boards have soldered RAM.
