There’s things that are left out that are important

Many indigenous wanted their kids to go to these schools

There was abuse in the school system everywhere and it seems like catholic schooling has been sexually abusive everywhere

Rural canada was extremely poor

Viruses like influenza ravaged everyone

The media reporting on the matter makes it seem like everything bad of the past was exclusively done to indigenous when it was a combination of life sucking for everyone and then it being a bit worse to the indigenous on top of that. But painting it as this extreme injustice to indigenous is misleading IMO. To say nothing of the extreme grifting and people looking for payouts from the government that only make the lives of the indigenous worse.

Prizes and rewards are given out for being the biggest victim, so it's natural that people want to out-victim one another for additional resources. Anytime there's resources at stake, people will do what they can to gain them. In Canada it's so perverse that it seems like everyday someone is outed, after gaining a prestigious position, for not having any indigenous heritage at all. But, they used that status to rapidly gain resources over competitors.

Negative. The plexiglass increases your odds of getting covid because people have to yell more often, releasing more droplets.

Absolutely true. Even if you shut off all doomscrolling, block twitter, don't use facebook, don't read the news, you'll still interact with people in real life who are spending their time looking at doom narratives or have some sort of propaganda being pushed to them. It is nigh impossible to fight it off.

Definitely possible doing so many things. Following trend and just being in DXY or short SPY. It's a super short time-frame. Anything can happen. Trust test is 10 year + horizons.

Does anyone else notice that the days have been getting shorter lately? Could a fascist nation be manipulating the time so that we're more tired?

And if it's a cold winter? And if buildings can't be heated and pipes burst? If businesses shutdown because of freezes?

I'm 100% sure that happens for the majority of large subs. Along with paid astroturfing on political subreddits.

Wow

Will there be riots over the mismanagement of the wealth of millions of people? How much have these incompetent managers destroyed? Esg is a cancer to society.

Russia invades ukraine, world becomes hysterical, mass sanctions, everyone stands with ukraine

America invades a country that has nothing to do with 9/11 and kills 500k+ (realistically 1mm+) civilians, no one stands with Iraq, and if they do they're terrorist states.

You know you can't see propaganda when...

100% the same for me as well. When I sit in the sun I feel invigorated, I Feel a rush of pleasant feelings throughout my body.

I take vitamin D regularly, 4000iu+, and I don’t feel anything remarkable. With the sun it’s almost an instant jolt of joy.

Exactly, I'm certain that many here cheer when there are protests that explicitly are about a government stepping down.

Think about the thousands and even millions that demanded Trump resign, that Obama resign, that Putin resign, that Modi resign, that Macron resign, and so on.

It was also retroactively deemed unlawful.

It would be like donating to BLM and then the government using emergency measures to shut down the protests like freezing bank accounts of those involved and then you lose your jobs and your accounts are frozen by the government and anyone that doesn't help the government stop the protest can be prosecuted by the government as well.

A lady in Ottawa who owned an ice cream shop was harassed because the information was leaked but in her mind she was supporting truckers that were out in the freezing weather protesting instead of working and still needed food and shelter.

People donate to protests and causes on a whim that get popular on social media all the time. I imagine a lot of people were donating to support some of the most thanklessly hard-worked people in society, truckers, that worked throughout the pandemic bringing back goods for the lucky people that could stay at home. The backgrounds of some of the initial organizers (some who are legitimate white supremacists) was not known initially and I imagine the majority still don't know and are instead protesting what they see as unnecessary mandates for truckers to get vaccinated even though they drive their trucks alone, and there's no indication that truckers are the cause of the spread of COVID.

I'm having an extremely hard time imagining people being okay with this and if you just change the protest cause just a bit I think it helps make clear why this is so dangerous.

It is definitely one way to approach startup investment and why VC funds spread their bets out on so many startups. Almost all go to 0, some go 100x.

I think it's easier if we think about it with concrete people. How exactly would someone like El Chapo be using bitcoin for laundering activities?

Furthermore, when people bring up the laundering and crime argument, I always point out that the us dollar is by far the medium of choice for laundering money, crime, ransom, extortion, drug payments, human trafficking payments, terror financing.

Accepted almost everywhere, virtually untraceable.

Wow that would be exceptionally expensive. In cold areas I've seen people with moderately sized homes have $1000 bills in the cold months in ontario.
