I've never seen racists / republicans / right wingers banned from Facebook. However I Have been banned for:
- Calling Trump "White Trash"
- Suggesting my tax dollars should not be used to fund Israel's genocide in Palestine
- Suggesting that leftist protestors arm themselves for protection against the Proud Boys
- Suggesting that my tax dollars should not be used to subsidize churches
I've probably reported 500 blatantly racist and threatening posts since Traitor Trump took over. Unbelievably racist things including swastikas, threats to kill people, Europa-Identity posts, etc.
One was a ycombinator-associated lawyer calling all muslims "Animals who fornicate with their sisters and with donkeys".
None of those people have been banned, none of those posts have been removed.
The left-wing bias on Facebook seems to be a helluva lot like the "war on Christmas". Doesn't seem to exist, but I really really wish it did.
The nature of the apple ecosystem is a boon to consumers, not a hinderance. I don't really give a #$!@$ about your profits as an iPhone developer. I care that google isn't sniffing all of my personal data, that I don't get viruses or phished, and that my phone just works.
Compare Apple to PCs. Windows is, has been, and always will be a security sh*tshow. Linux isn't interesting enough to scammers to be a security target yet, but it sure is ugly and chaotic. Apple just works for me.
By forcing Apple to be open, you're trying to both turn it into Linux by taking away the quality and usability of the apps available, and into Windows by .. making it a security shitshow.
Nobody has ever given me a real argument as to how Apple harms consumers in the iPhone. The only argument seems to be that app developers want a free ride. They want full access to do whatever they want, consumers be damned, without paying into the infrastructure which made their market available. (techno-libertarianism strikes again?)
You should know that a company called Phunware, which built Trump's campaign app, received 3x as much CARES stimulus per capita than anybody was supposed to get. If you voted Republican and donated to the GOP you are way more likely to get CARES checks.
They're a horoscope company which ripped off "investors" for $40m in a scam ICO 3 years ago, and they donated heavily to Trump.
That money will go towards destroying the rest of the world no matter what. That's what Americans do, we kill muslims in the name of Jesus. That's all we know how to do anymore. I can't stop that.
However, I paid $60k in taxes last year, and I basically will not be able to find work this year thanks to covid. I'm struggling, and NONE of that money I've given is coming back to me. I've been paying taxes on income since I was 15, 26 years, and my government basically told me to go fuck myself.
I've also generated many millions of dollars for YC startups, helped them get funding, helped them get employees. Now that I can't find work, everyone who used to call me up constantly asking me for help has fucked off.

A few years ago Riot Games turned me down for a position I was overqualified for because I’m not a hardcore gamer. I laughed it off because I knew that people who “give a shit” about the gaming industry expect to work 12 hours per day 300 days per year for a below market salary.
I earnestly believe that OS developers and app developers who implement pop-ups or notifications or dialogue boxes would mostly fail the Sociopath test if they were made to take it before being allowed to commit code. This sort of attention-theft feels very malicious to me.
I can say that Growl and desktop notifications are the very first thing I disable.
Not once on 20 years of computing did I ever think: “I want applications to interrupt what I’m doing and steal my limited ADHD focus because they’re lonely and need attention”.
At the absolute very least every single web browser should have the ability to ask:
* if you want to allow the pop-up
* if you want to allow a site to open a new window/tab
* if you want to allow a site to open a new pop-under window
This really shouldn't require special Greasemonkey scripts, block lists or commercial extensions. 99% of the time the user does not want that pop-up/pop-under/modal dialogue.
I'm starting to think that developers at almost all browsers are bribed by advertisers to allow these dark patterns.
It's been 31 years and web browsers are still utter trash. The developers at Safari, Firefox, Chrome and every other browser should be ashamed for allowing Pop-up and pop-under windows to even exist. It's functionality which needs to go away. If I don't explicitly open a link in a new window, that link should never, ever, EVER open in a new window.
Why is this still acceptable behavior? It has zero benefit to any end user.

I moved the past 3 companies I work with from GitHub to self-hosted gitlab after the Microsoft purchase.
When Microsoft bought GitHub, all of the "Developer Evangelist" / "Open Source" evangelist crowd made all of those noise about how "Microsoft is great for our community! They ARE an open source company! Everything is wine and roses!"

Ultimately I formed a small company around it and sold it 6 months later to a hosting company for $75k. I was stoned for 90% of the development work, and was also coming down off of an MDMA trip when I pitched the idea. I literally walked into a hosting company owned by a friend at random (after not seeing him for 3 years) and told him I'd built this thing and that he needed it for their cloud offering.
