Step 1) Form a mercenary company with many orbiting startups that work on the military tech.

Step 2) Iterate and fail fast in the field.

Step 3) ???

Step 4) World domination.

They should be deploying half baked prototypes, testing them in the field, and iterating incrementally improved designs as fast as possible, not trying to design the perfect product to sell to the military. That's how you lose a war. The DOD procurement process needs to be deleted and replaced with hundreds of startups with a hardline fail fast philosophy. The startups should have engineers on the front observing the performance every day.

Politics on this site is as astroturfed/censored as reddit, and the moderators are interchangeable. It's good for tech news.

Fun fact: there are significantly more heat deaths in Europe than car fatalities.

Interesting priorities...

Then, therefore, this article is making broad, bold claims without accessible proof.

I saw that and described the page you linked. The actual study is gate kept behind a paywall or "institutional access".

I've heard that one before.

The link in the article does not show the study, just a list of references, a summary and the researchers who published it. How many of the researchers who published this study have conflicts of interest? Where is the full study for review?

Most of the old internet could be restored with the right search engine and browser. Index all of the invasive BS to page 100 or the results, and put the interesting/relevant things up front. People might pay for it. You could do some of it with an extension.

I agree. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the US balkanizes. That might not be a bad thing if it can happen peacefully.

I guarantee that's in a powerpoint presentation somewhere at Pfizer.

They think that because governments have a nasty history of killing tens of millions of their own people and need to be restrained.

The best browsers that do not leave fingerprints do so by making your fingerprint look like every other fingerprint. Cydec used to have a plugin that actually worked for randomizing everything, but support ended. Maintenance for that must have been a nightmare. The best approach now is to blend in by looking like everyone else doing the same thing.

You put your passwords in Google Sheets? The data there is not encrypted at rest. Google has 191k employees in countries like China, India, and Pakistan who could potentially access your records. Make sure you use something that encrypts your data at rest, preferably on a device you own and control.

I find it hard to believe that LastPass still has users.

They give you that (or hieroglyphics) if you are using certain VPNs and don't leave a specific browser fingerprint.

After the lies and misinformation we now know we were fed during the COVID era, you would have to be insane to blindly trust this group again, especially the hacker news astroturf squad that's downvoting my comments. Hard data studies only from independent researchers, preferably double blind placebo controlled, and sterilizing vaccines only, not these leaky "get your booster this week before it mutates again" treatments.

Thanks. 10 our of 13 of the researchers work for Moderna or another pharma company. That "study" might as well be a marketing brochure.
