I agree, it's not like telling all the people on the face. We should have some prejudgement to whom we are talking.
But it's probably more productive to read "How to Win Friends and Influence People" -- will lead to you being able to accomplish more of your goals, and probably being a happier person as a result.
We pick our battles... if the goal is just to prove how much smarter you are than others... you'll have a hard time measuring it and not a lot of friends or achievements to show at the end of the day.
