First year just copy whatever you like. Do that for 12 months and you'll be set. You'll be stepping in the shoes of those who've created what you like.

Either that or pay thousands for a course, but honestly just go for #1

I second this aooroach. The way to mastery is to 1st copy. So copy a naster and learn why the master does what he does. Once you understand then you work on your own

Learn about typography, composition, contrast, colors. Do tutorials and then modify them and experiment. Try to copy the best then you will see even coping in not that easy and you will learn a lot.

Share your work online and ask for opinions.

And the most important is to play and have fun with it.

Other than learning graphic designing software, I would also recommend following and daily browsing sites like dribbble and behance, looking at the examples there and trying to pick out why they decided to make those design choices.
