Every developer around the world in a poorer country wants to work remotely for a company who pays much higher wages. Easy to get thousands of applicants for these remote jobs.
It doesn’t change the overall quality of the applicants and yet we received more than half from the US :-)
I wasn't surprised that they got so many applicants, but I was surprised they got so many quality applicants. I guess it was because it was a remote position with a not too many restrictions about where the candidate had to live, so the applicant pool was much larger.
We think the remote culture we set combined with the natural fit of the product for developers were two key drivers of success here.
The entry level software job market in the USA is completely saturated, not to mention the scores of talented developers from over seas waiting to come here
It’s true but we did receive some applications from the US ;-)
The myth of the software developer shortage: BUSTED!
There certainly is no shortage of remote applicants.
There is a shortage of remote jobs though :-)
This works in reverse too. If you have 900 recruiter emails you can send them a typeform/wufoo with questions relating to what you care about in a job.
Hiring works both ways for sure!
There are tons of junior developers out there, bet you won't have the same turnout for senior level engineers.
I was definitely one of the 900.
Thank you! I hope we’ll get a chance to talk next time.
Same, y'all seem like an awesome bunch.
