There are a lot of similarities between the Chokwe approach to these designs and George Bain's suggestions for constructing Celtic Knots in "Celtic Art: The Methods of Construction".

Well that was fun!
I've done a lot of Celtic knotwork designs, over the years (See my old personal site: https://cmarshall.com), but I've always done them by hand, and it can get tedious.
I have developed "libraries" of knot segments, that I put together as needed. There's a bunch of variants, for things like corners, circles and illuminations.
