I've seen many blogs and articles talk about this a few times but this is the first time anyone has bothered to illustrate it. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words.
Interesting. Mr. Hoover must have been familiar with how past civilizations put a great deal of attention to this kind of calculations and left traces of their presence using similar techniques. However those past civilization also knew that our planet likes to reshuffle its surface from time to time and structures that would survive such reshuffling either need to be massive or need to be strategically placed in spots that won't be affected. I'm not sure if the dam is built in one of such places.
Fascinating. We humans should look up at the stars more often.
