What is the whole point of learning philosophy?

Philosophy means 'The love of wisdom'. So if you like wisdom, you should gather as much of it as possible. There are different extremes to this. Some just love reading the odd inspirational quote or kernel of wisdom. Others seek out esoteric literature and esoteric or less-well-known books that aren't as popular as the mainline schools of thought like stoicism or epistemology or religious dogma, or even...The Bible.

Wouldn’t it be helpful if people wrote down their models of life, living, what constitutes knowledge, theories of mind and aesthetics, so you could get to the bottom of why people should study philosophy?
