Oh, this is great stuff to know - thanks. I had my ThinkPad (X230) unplugged and it was down to like 3% after just 20-30 minutes. It used to last a couple hours, just a year ago. Guess the battery is basically on its last legs, which is unfortunate as I don't think Lenovo makes a battery for this model anymore... :\
This is definitely "a thing." I've had two MacBook Pros whose batteries swelled to where it bent the case open.
I try to make it a point to put my laptop through regular charge and discharge cycles, as result. As much as I love this 21:9 monitor, keeping it perpetually connected is definitely not the way to go.

Modern versions of macOS limit the max charge automatically don’t they? Or is this a hardware thing?
I definitely recall seeing a notification that it wasn’t charging my MBP to full because it has spent too much time connected to the charger.

When I work stationary, I always set my charging limit to 60%, pluged-in and that keeps my battery in good shape for years.
How do you do that in Windows 11?
Your BIOS must support that. My HP has "BIOSConfigUtility64.exe" downloadable from HP site that allows me to change BIOS parameters from within the Windows.
Then I have 2 batch files containing:
C:\Programs\SP107705\BIOSConfigUtility64.exe /setvalue:"Battery Health Manager","Maximize my battery health"
C:\Programs\SP107705\BIOSConfigUtility64.exe /setvalue:"Battery Health Manager","Let HP manage my battery charging"
For 80% and 100% charge limit respectively. Its nice that the changes take effect immediately, dont have to restart PC for it.
