Fortunately, I haven't been bit by the ad-block ban yet. Is this the best way to circumvent it or did someone figure out a uBlock filter?

Yes, there's filters, it's also just nagging, you can easily just dismiss the modal and keep watching

Not just nagging. I've been fully blocked. I guess my crime of watching videos to help with my college study was too much to bear for YouTube. I had to install a greasemonkey script to inject the embedded version to avoid the block.
That is interesting. I been using edge with ublock and pihole. Have not yet seen or been harassed by YT. I am based in US, not sure if it is region directed or being tested but still no notifications.
Interesting, it's just nagging for me.
Yeah, I think I'm a bit of a power user. I watch a lot of videos for class and projects. I blew through the nudging phase to the three strikes phase fairly quickly. I'd consider paying for it, but I think it's very overpriced, even for the student price. Spotify/Hulu combo is cheaper with a student discount than YouTube's, for comparison.
nah, if you do it enough times it gives you three strikes, and if you do three strikes, then it starts putting them in place of the video player. it is still of cours epossible to get around with the right adblock though
There seems to be an arms race happening between YouTube and uBlock. Every few days the nag shows back up and I have to update my unlock lists again. But it does work usually
I self host my own invidious instance and it works very well. Need to use IPv6 and cycle your addresses though
