To clarify, it's not that a particular point of coastal land moved 800 ft away from where it had been previously. It's that some of the land was uplifted past sea level--essentially it "rose up out of the water"--effectively moving the location of the coastline.
For comparison, land surface movement near the 2004 tsunami was less than 1 meter.
Now, Japan has expanded its territory. This is a common method for increasing land area, correct?
