I've thought patent reform has very little chance since the current system is such a short term benefit to the big companies. But maybe even they will start to become aware of the longer term downsides?

To my lay understanding (IANAL) it seems the legal system used to have a strong distinction between "things you have" and "things you know". To the point in the U.S. where "taking the 5th" is very much in the public consciousness as not having to say anything that could be used against you. A warrant certainly can be used to take the drive with any encrypted material on it, but forcing divulgence of the keys seems like another level entirely.
Don't forget the distinctive odor that allows you to tell if you have arrived near that love, even in complete darkness. Of course if the new biomass engine does not lack this feature it probably ruins it for any covert use.

Gah, can someone explain how the first png in the article (pyramid.png) came to be well over 1 megabyte? Simply opening it and resaving in gimp brings it down to 83kb and running it through optipng will bring it down to 45kb.
