I don't know coldfusion so I can't really comment on it specifically. But running ColdFusion smells fishy and will definitely have me on high alert for other red flags.

We're talking 40k-60k. Really, these guys worked in a typical 80s/90s greenscreen outfit. They never retrained out of laziness. They saw everyone get fucked on the dot com bubble and then they stayed at their job which never changed.
I worked with these guys. I always use them to remind myself that no matter how the powers that be kiss my ass right now they'll have no problem paying me shit even if it means incredibly short sighted moves like sticking with a system with an ever dwindling set of devs.

Well your mistake is thinking that the rock64 has power consumption anything like an opteron.
A low power opteron is like 55W just for the processor and a rock64 is like 5W for the whole SBC.
All of the always on parts of my home network are built out of compact low power parts that are faster than the rock64 and, no surprise it's expensive.
I used a nano-itx celeron that's much faster than a rock64 and gives me 2 gbe links to bond. It would have cost him 10 dollars more and would use 2-5x the power.
Surely this has nothing to do with the increasing wealth inequality in america.
