There’s an issue tracking TimescaleDB JSONB compression: https://github.com/timescale/timescaledb/issues/2978

Porsche has a similar steering wheel mounted rotary switch. Traditionally it was on models optioned with the Sport Chrono package. They recently rolled it out to all new models over the past few years.

>I find that, if time allows, I get a massive productivity boost after 4:30pm

This sounds oddly specific. How consistent is this time? If you start working an hour earlier does it impact the timing of your productivity boost?

>Then just use the lan ports on the device, but also make sure the LAN cables are shielded because it could be using them as antennas given how compromised wifi router firmwares usually are.

Those shielded Ethernet cables better be properly grounded.

I share your concern.

I develop industrial control systems. It's been a hot topic for decades that automation will replace factory workers.

From my vantage point there is still the same number of workers in factories. The difference is that they are now doing more meaningful and less labor intensive work. This level of automation is what has made manufacturing sustainable in the US.

While this anecdote is not completely analogous with your example, I'm optimistic that we don't quite know yet how humans will be able to leverage these kinds of tools to increase their own productivity.

Did the company end up dropping their big customer or did the company use both Azure and AWS?

I work with customers who insist on Azure as long as they know it's an option, however they also have other vendors who are only on AWS and they seem to be okay with it.

Agreed. Adding to this, consumers in general are failing to quantify the cost of giving up their personal data.

Can there be a balance? I'd love to remotely control and view the status of my appliances without sending the telemetry to the OEM. Physically disabling all the radios would prohibit this functionality.

A great example of "During the gold rush it’s a good time to be in the pick and shovel business."

Increasing productivity of expensive developers is a great selling point.
