Compression over HTTPS can be problematic, as it makes the key easier to crack.

I would like to trade out AngularJS for Vue someday, though.

I would tend to agree. Not a fan of database abuse / contempt. Turn on the SQL trace in Hibernate and weep. So much code wanking to be “performant”, which just waits for horrible database usage to grind along.

90 KB is probably bad for a marketing page, but it’s nothing for a B2B or internal use app, particularly when the second use is just the “you already have it” HTTP header response.

Good or bad depending on context.

Wishful thinking?

PS - this “child” started working as a developer, at least part time, back in 1985

C++ eventually passed into a bad memory, and so will MSIE.

Alas, about 50% of mine.

Many government and healthcare organizations STILL using Internet Exploder, presumably until its 2025 end of life:-(

As trollish as that sounds, there's a painful amount of truth there.

Program in GNU Pascal or some such thing? Not us. Pedal to the metal!

Maybe it's a heat sink, too.

I suppose it gives them time to get it right, rather than rushing to wrap it up, but also tries to pull the old "vaporware" trick of trying to get potential customers to delay purchasing a competitor's product.

You're lucky you didn't get voted down -5, with the Type Police out and about.

I like ES5 (would be ES6, but for IE support...) Javascript, but it is a bit light on the immutability aspect, given the environment and problem set it usually runs in.

Check out the "Ramda.js" library for JS (http://ramdajs.com/0.21.0/index.html). There's some good concepts put to use there. (although I have my own version of "currying" implemented at work, as I like to sometimes have "0 arity" functions for event handlers -- but those types of "functions" aren't particularly "pure")

Cool. My first programming experience was as a high school senior going to the CSU, Stanislaus (Turlock) computer lab to play on the Apple II's, and later on the C-64 in that lab. It was my job to be the "lab assistant" for about 6 months before starting school there. (put paper in the printers, make sure equipment stays in the room, show people where the "on" buttons are)

Yeah, a ride down Monte Vista Ave was a pretty "pastoral" experience.

Going from toying with analog electronics to getting to use an actual computer was pretty exciting, at least for somebody in a rural area who could not afford such toys otherwise. Putting simple graphics into the Apple was a stroke of genius and made it quite an experience to play with.
