Calling it as rich as the best works of literature is peak programmer angst.

Sounds like you have no artistic sensibility

"Code is a beautiful form of creative expression, as rich as literature or music"

Um no, you've gone too far.

The Chinese are clearly great at distilling current SOTA models. And yes they are crushing on energy infra buildout, especially with American NIMBYs and general Marxist degrowth mindsets.

They still don't have a clear path to create their own SOTA models, especially if American ones become more and more locked down, and they can't distill so easily.

Honestly I think the SpaceX orbital plan is the only hope of maintaining the US lead in the long run.

Incredible display of brainwashing

Yeah. And on the other hand, Chinese culture tends to embrace and optimize progress. I blame the French for infecting western universities with the de-growth mindset.

Incredible how the first instinct is just to complain about progress these days. The degrowth mindset is really taking hold.

There is a huge amount of "space" available even in low orbital shells. Which also naturally decay.

Good case in point of my original comment.

I think labeling all things right-wing as bad is part of the problem. The left goes too far, and pushes people to the right. That's why Trump got back into power.

US EVs were "lightly" subsidized compared to what the Chinese govt has done. In the ballpark of 250 billion dollars by the Chinese vs maybe 10% of that by the US.

Article is pay-walled, but is this mostly about spectrum? The existing Iridium fleet can't even come close to competing with Starlink...

Glad to see your sentiment. I’m so tired of the reflexive self flagellation of a lot of Americans. It’s often based in ignorance.

Wouldn’t mind it myself

Datac enters bad, big cars bad, nulcear bad (yeah those were people of the same ilk that ruined that industry).

Keep it up. China will win, as we flagellate.

NYT editors are so subtly deceptive. It's disappointing.

You sound like a good candidate for EU citizenship.

The solution is not to ban large vehicles. Self-driving vehicles are what will solve this problem (slowly, as the current fleet of human-driven vehicles phases out). In general, having humans drive vehicles is incredibly dangerous. Small cars too.

Developers claiming their valuable data was “stolen” to train models is so dramatic.
