That's a straw man. My argument isn't about 'the way it was created'; it's about the point I clarified in my previous comment. If you want to discuss that, great, but calling my take irrational based on an argument I didn't make doesn't make sense (when your position is “YOLO to AI”). To reiterate — Trust is the core of my argument, and there’s no trust without human ownership and proof of work/understanding yet (possibly ever).

Perhaps in the future my grandmother will have wheels… But today radiologists still do radiology (despite AI being better at reading scans), taxi drivers still have work, and truck drivers are still able to put food on the table. It’s still 2026, time traveler, so touch grass…

Absolutely not obvious to me, especially since I have heard a lot of solo dev stories that insist it was purely a 1-person project. And it’s true in some cases.

My comment was directly relevant to yours. So I’ll say what I want, without needing your permission, thank you. Kudos to the mods for not flagging my original comment. They do that sometimes if you say the thing ;)

Disagree, it’s already a leap of faith to trust even human code (which is why we try to prove code, or at the very minimum create guardrails with tests). Human reasoning itself is under doubt. It’s even more of a leap of faith (>>) to trust code generated by AI reasoning (which I can only currently call “homunculus reasoning,” it’s not inferior but it’s just got the probabilistic aspect of reasoning). People who YOLO their work to Al are practicing a different form of faith. I like knowing what my code does, and making correct predictions about it. A mental model is very important. My position is very rational, yours is faith-based. This is a technology that has many cool uses, but this is not one of those uses (in 2026). Unless the author can convince me they have as good of a mental model of this rewrite as the makers of the original source code. Maybe they do, I’m sure they would run circles around me, but I need the confidence that this isn’t going to wake me up at 3am because of some bug. And the only way I know that about PG is because I trust the creators.

I don’t trust AI rewrites, definitely not in 2026 — possibly never.

Then don’t read my response and don’t reply to it, simple. This is a public thread on a social media platform. I don’t need to be asked to speak. I certainly don’t need your approval to say anything I wish to say. Who do you think you are? Lmao… Check your ego.

Still way ahead of xAI in anything meaningful, including market share, enterprise customer buy-in, existing office software moat, etc… Not saying consultant/business-idiot CEOs aren’t a problem, but have you seen Edolf Musk? Again, kind of a silly take…

That’s just not true. Google Brain/DeepMind came up with the attention mechanism to begin with… What a silly take.

Quitting my job if I have to use any Musk product… I know Anthropic’s lease of xAI data centers pumped SpaceX stock, so they’re kinda in-bed with each other, but directly using Musk products is pure immorality IMO. Using a Nazi’s products is not an acceptable outcome to me, and I’m fully prepared to change my job/entire career over it. I’m still young, and have time to pivot.

I had to scroll down so far to see someone who speaks my language. Thank you. If Grok was the last model on the planet, I would not use it. For the very reason mentioned above. And no, none of the other tech CEOs are that comically evil that they’d take it upon themselves to cut aid from the world’s most vulnerable children while also being the world’s richest man. The optics of that alone… Never letting it go.

Please add them on the site for those of us who have never had Twitter and don’t plan to open one ever. Thanks for this compilation, I am — like your friends — trying to get into reading research papers and this is right up my alley right now.

Why outsource my learning to Al? The whole point is the joy of the process. I could easily take a photo of a scene (since the inception of photography) instead of learning to paint it, but I would gain no skills through that. People still paint. I'm just tired, boss... I yearn for a past when we didn't have to end every conversation with a disclaimer about Al taking over.

So, Musk summoning the Luftwaffe like that didn’t dissuade you from buying one?
