I'm not sure what you mean by this...what is the "origin story" you speak of that you apparently know so much about? I haven't contradicted myself about it.
It's how they operate unfortunately...Disagree with a Dem apologist and be prepared to be called a "racist," "fascist," "sexist," or "alt right." It's their way of avoiding critical thought...So much easier to just label your opponent something intolerable and move on.
It's crazy because I'm more "left" on most issues than my Dem apologist friends and I'm the one who gets castigated.
> "Organize a community of Open Source developers who want to build tools to help local Democratic parties and clubs."
...this may be an unpopular opinion, but even though the GOP is atrocious, the Dems haven't really given us a good reason to give them our support either. That's the hard part for me anyway, I can't in good conscience lend support to either of two ruling parties.
> "Use our community to bring the voice of the Open Source community to our elected leaders and government."
...just so the DNC "leaders" can collude behind closed-door meetings to push whatever candidate and corporate agenda they want on us come election time, hoping we'll turn out no matter how disappointing the candidate.
> "That said, the question is about the (to me) bizarre defensiveness of Trump voters. Your team won, and has a freer hand than most presidents ever get. Why are you pretending you're oppressed?"
Headline should be changed from "Trump" to "the national security state" in my opinion. Let's not forget that we need to push back against the Corporate Dems selling us out just as much as we need to push back against the GOP/Trump.
Will this policy cover those who want to support Trump, oppose immigration, or support right-wing religious positions that most people find unpalatable?
I'm so tired of seeing all the blog posts and comments that think our problems are due to Trump and Republicans instead of taking a look at our own "progressive" party. Sure, Trump and the GOP are fucked up, but so are the Dems and the tech community seemed perfectly fine fawning over our "tech president" when he was bailing out the billionaires, expanding state surveillance powers, and ordering the murder of thousands with drones.
Whenever I mention how the corporate Dems have been selling us out for years and we need to light a fire under their ass to work for our interests, I'm immediately ostracized from my fellow "progressives."
Don't forget to add alternative views from the left either (most have FB pages or Twitter feeds). Some of my favorite are: Counterpunch, Libcom, Mother Jones, Truthdig, and on the more "cheeky" side, I'd check out r/LateStageCapitalism.
True. Nice observation.
