And we just can't capture the smell of those vehicles or the smell of gas stations of that time.

The Defense Industrial Base is 10s of thousands of companies. May are small businesses. Many need to obtain CMMC Level 2, which has requirements for FIPS certified encryption. Our systems do not directly connect to Government systems and those STIGs may not apply directly. So, could I use Ubiquiti in some places? Maybe, not to store controlled information in this case. I could probably store previously fips encrypted files there. Would I want to use Ubiquiti cloud services? No.

Looks interesting, but likely lacks FIPS support which makes it an issue for companies that work with the government.

This treats all income like Labor income and completely ignores Investment income and long-term capital gains and losses.

How I pay tax on my labor income doesn't have a lot to do with how Paul pays taxes on his investments. Paul makes his money from investment income.

I valued the games and the time I spent playing them. Tons of people on handheld devices, that have little money for games, is a whole different world. Seems like gaming is a tough business, I have to wonder how this applies though: https://bothsidesofthetable.com/most-startups-should-be-deer...

I'm old enough to remember a time when you bought a copy of a game and played it locally. Most games were around $60 and we paid it. It is only more recently that someone decided that viewing ads was a better way to pay for games - you got what you wanted and no one values games anymore.

Even back in the day, if I paid 60 bucks and spent less then 40 hours solving the game I was disappointed and felt like I paid too much. I invested in the hardware and software and I expect something out it.

Happy to pay for your game but don't hobble it or subject me to ads.

VLANs would appear to defeat the ease of use aspect here. Plus that means you need managed switches, and know how to use them.

Single WAN, Single LAN, is not actually what I would (or do) use for "home-based self-hosting". That hosted stuff gets its own network.

Depends on the alloy. Just a guess, you had 304 stainless which will rust fairly easily in saltwater. 316 would last longer. Also it can be tricky to retain the corrosion resistance when welding stainless, your part might corrode first at weld points.

How does ignoring real harm help? Because it cost you less?

"Poor air quality does not affect all parts of LA equally. Communities of color and low-income residents are disproportionately impacted by polluted air. In certain areas, traffic-related emissions, including nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), and benzene concentrations, are up to 60% higher.

A study led by UCLA found that the air in disadvantaged neighborhoods contained not only more fine particulate matter, but also more toxic particulates as well. Places facing the most socioeconomic disadvantages “experience about 65% higher toxicity than people in the most advantaged group,” according to Suzanne Paulson, UCLA professor of atmospheric and oceanic sciences and the senior author of the study.

These same groups often have less access to health care and good nutrition, putting them at an even greater health risk. Everyone deserves to breathe clean air, and communities of color and low-income residents are unfortunately facing the worst of LA’s notorious smog."

Saving a buck at the expense of someone with no control of their situation is a choice.

I'm not sure that most voters that have lived through smog in SoCal would vote for that. It is easy to decide that its okay to pollute a place where you don't live.

You obviously never loved through LA Smog. You never had to stay inside or skip school because the air was too dirty to breathe. Take a look at how it was: https://www.ccair.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/LA-smog.jpg

Cars may burn cleaner but they still burn, and there are more of them than ever.

Easing economic pain in exchange for health pain is nonsensical. Breathe from your own tailpipe if its no big deal.

We could die chocking on the air that produces too. Understand the history in CA and the reasons we have special gas. Would you really want to hurt children for cheaper gas? Really?
