> I get the impression that Russians and Chinese seem to be safer from their respective governments, than residents of the US.

What an utterly misguided conclusion to make from the recent news. While the current US administration is just dipping their toes in the pool of authoritarianism, the aforementioned countries have been on board that train for quite a long time. In Russia teenage girls get prison sentences for reposting anti-war Facebook memes, and LGBTQ+ people get hunted down on the streets. China runs actual concentration camps for their ethnic minorities and has the most locked down Internet in the world. And yet somehow you think a ruling from one activist judge in Texas makes US citizens as a whole less safe than that?

>Each tool call requires a new request no?

Nope, not unless you are doing steering.

Each new prompt = new request, but tool calls don't count.

I'm talking about per-request model remember? With extensive prompt you realistically can have one request every 10 minutes because the agent will be busy for at least 10 minutes executing it. They aren't rate limiting that.

>A lot of enterprises were doing that but now they hit the 150 user limit on Claude and are paying seat+api rates.

A lot of enterprises use Github Copilot which has per-request pricing model which effectively means unlimited tokens which eliminates this issue.

>impotent threat of attacking ships

Seeing diehard MAGAs in these comment threads is always so amusing. Clearly Agent Orange didn't think the threat was impotent if he crawled on his knees to negotiation table hastened by dire predictions of impending economic collapse but you somehow think it was "impotent" ? Astonishing :)

> After all of those millions of dollars spent trying to make virtual events happen?

Billions. $70 billion since 2021 to be exact.

You would be pissed that you have to walk for an extra 2 minutes? I wouldn't, but sure. Would you also be pissed about overall bus travel time decreasing by a generous amount?

Yes [1]

You are thinking of Ashkenazi. Vast majority of Israeli jews are Mizrahi. This is in addition to 2 million Palestinians who are Israeli citizens and are doing just fine. Your hatred comes from ignorance.

Elektrek was one of the biggest Tesla cheerleaders until 2023 or so. Founder promoting neonazi and fascist ideas kinda made them sour on the brand, can you blame them?

>Or shop American and help keep manufacturing and jobs alive here.

This kind of myopic view completely misses the scope of manufacturing chains that are simply missing in the US. Things like stainless steel rebar and LCD screens take many years to build up efficient production for.

>Go to Japan and you can count the American products sold on your hand

Do you honestly think that Japan makes almost everything domestically? There's a good reason for the absence of American products in Japan. You are so close :)

>An extreme and inaccurate statement. The US is still party to NATO Article 5, meaning the blood of our young people is pledged to be shed to defend, say, Estonia. That has not changed.

Before making chest-thumping proclamations of this sort perhaps you'd best read the text of article 5:

-- If a member is attacked, other members will take "such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area".

See the part where it says "such action it deems necessary"? Trump may decide that the necessary action is to go play golf. He's gone back and forth on his commitment to European defense a number of times over the years, so there's really no reason to believe that his he won't change his mind on it before breakfast tomorrow.

> Facebook can't have their top researcher work on risky things when there's surefire paths to success still available.

How did you determine that "surefire paths to success still available"? Most academics agree that LLMs (or LLMs alone) are not going to lead us to AGI. How are you so certain?

Counterpoint: I have two senior citizens living with me (my inlaws). They are 75 years old. They have no trouble using their IPhone 13 Maxes. Yes, I did set it up for them 2 years ago but after that they've been on their own. Maybe once every few months they can't figure something out and they ask for help but for the most part experience has been largely painless. They have a decent range of apps they use - youtube, facebook, viber, some games, some utilities, family ToDo shopping lists, translation apps, camera, messaging. I wouldn't call them power users by any stretch but they definitely feel comfortable with their devices.

>There's even a /leftypol/ devoted to leftist politics that contains no white supremicists.

Leftypol is not devoted to "leftist politics", it's a counterpart to /pol which stands for "politically incorrect". /leftypol by extension is politically incorrect that curved to the left. In reality /leftypol and /pol are not that dissimilar. Both attract off-the-rocker crazy conspiracy-theory types the likes of QAnon. If you looked at /leftypol during say attempted coup in Venezuela the content you would have encountered would have been just as offensive as /pol.

Re: 3)

Official app on iOS used to be a third party app called Alien Blue. Reddit basically purchased it, re-branded it as official, and viola. On iOS it had tons of usage prior to that. Incidentally after the rebranding is when I stopped using it and moved to Apollo.
