Contrary to popular belief, formal education wasn't useless here. All the foundational knowledge was covered in depth in my mandatory CS undergrad networking class. So this is a neat quick guide to all the stuff CS graduates already have learned once about but might've forgotten the details or don't know the hands on code.

Yea similar for me. I run native linux for work, but a windows machine with a Ubuntu vm for private use. I just can't get around certain things only being really available on Windows.

Though I have a harder time thinking about macos things that are lacking in Linux apart from the Microsoft Office and the Adobe Suite. Especially since the dev experience on Linux is much better considering your servers or embedded devices are running on linux and macOS just adds an unnecessary layer of complexity to your dev environment. yea, you often don't realize it, until you work with C (which might sneek in as a library in your favorite higher language written in C for efficiency) or something else "native".

My point being it's much harder to get rid of windows than getting rid of macos. Even with a Mac I still needed a windows machine at least for games. But many people maybe just need pc + office + Adobe which is exactly mac.

Nearly every answer you gave in this thread doesn't address the parent comments point at all.

It seems you are just raging and reading subtext and drama where there is none.

Further up someone mentioned Rust and Haskell aren't similar and you go on about Rust-religion and where to use Rust. Why don't you just address the point? "Lego" is also not a synonym or metaphor for simplified.

My dad told me that when he studied construction engineering in the late 70s at TU Munich one of their assignments was to calculate if the Isar nuclear reactors are built strong enough to hold off a Mach 2.2 impact of a Phantom II. If I recall correctly the correct answer was that they were quite a bit stronger than necessary for that.

However, I always wondered if a large civilian plane like a 747 with a speed close to Mach 1 creates more or less impact. The 747 is ~12 times heavier, but it's also less than half the speed and spreads the impact across a much larger area.

> If Rust is the answer, why are you pushing for new langs when Rust is sufficient? Something doesn't add up here.

Maybe because he said, twice, that Rust is not all the way there?
