I'm going through something similar. All the symptoms described in the article are present in the company where I work. But I don't blame AI. AI is just a tool. I blame the company culture, because it's the source of those problems.

For starters, not sending a notification "he is now using this app!" to everyone who has my phone number.

Tbh, anything that is not a proprietary closed garden. Why access to the clubs/interest groups now requires to compromise the privacy?

I don't get your point. Are you saying that Apple can sell more specialized iPhones?

But that's exactly what is the problem with modern Apple - software is shit. It's limited on purpose, so that the users are forced to buy more Apple devices. So no, they don't need to sell more iPhones, they need to make their software better, so it won't be like a cult where you need to keep buying a bunch of different devices. But then they won't get easy money from the followers, so they will never do this.

But why does it always have to be a mobile app?

I'm a bit glad that it's no longer Facebook groups. But WhatsApp is also disappointing. I have to keep an account on my 'throwaway' phone for junk apps just to communicate with those groups and clubs. And usually WhatsApp is the only way with them.

What is Apple doing to blur the line between desktop and mobile? Is it the abomination they call iPadOS? It's a joke, it's nothing more than iOS+.

They've made it perfectly clear that they want to keep desktop and mobile separate in order to convince their customers to buy all their devices.

I didn't say there are none at all. And I've heard that internet from small internet providers can actually be good.

But after living in 3 different apartments there, I never had a luxury to be able to connect the internet from a small provider. Their coverage is very, very limited. So it always was Telekom/Vodafone/o2.

My experience was slightly different. I mean, yes, there pretty much no 'non crappy' German internet providers, but nothing was as bad as Vodafone.

It's not perfect simply because it's a mobile-first app. That's Signal's main problem.

Oh, I didn't mean the term "Artificial Intelligence" itself. I was talking about referring to what we have now as "AI".

I was in a similar situation in Egypt once. At the specified time a train arrives, I board it. Only to see that my seat is occupied. We started to discuss the situation and the other passenger showed me his ticket - it was one of the previous delayed trains. We figured it just in time for me to jump out of the wrong train before it left the station :)

The term "AI" didn't make sense from the beginning, but I guess it sounded cool and that's why everything is "AI" now. And I doubt it will change, regardless of its correctness.

To be honest, I've never had any issues with 'Platinum' games on Proton. But I somewhat agree, starting with 'Gold' and below, it was a hit-or-miss situation.

I've been using CachyOS with Plasma desktop for a long time now. Including my gaming PC. Zero problems. But I don't play any online games.

The problem with Synology type NAS is that they still treat you like a product. If you go this way, you have to accept the limitations. Or you have to do everything yourself.

They can still save 'Louvre' in 1Password =). Using strong passwords is a matter of mindset, not software.

Personally, I'm in a KDE camp. GNOME was never my cup of tea. But I completely agree that the Linux DE surpassed Windows/Mac some time ago. While Windows enshitified and MacOS stagnated, Linux on desktop kept evolving. And even though I've used Windows and Mac for a long time before fully switching to Linux, I now can't go back.

I'm glad it's not just me who finds the syntax of some of the new PHP features confusing and complicated. And it's not just this version either, they keep adding weird "sugar" in each new release.

We use gitlab.com at work, and it's noticeably bad. Parts of it go down monthly, or sometimes even weekly.
