launching this on Canada Day (July 1) would be pretty cool

surely there real-time AI writing checkers? predictability in word choices and sentence-length variation are alr available so maybe someone has to make something that measures delays in sec now. that could be a feature that op implements *like coursera/edx tech as sidpatil mentions

Hope you're well; and it's really neat to hear about the impact a teacher can have. How did you guys make the desks? Also, actually I got carried away and read over your 100 Demons cartoons esp the one suggesting u can in fact make a difference with comics :)

whether you change might depend on how young you are. younger minds tend to be more responsive to how they perceive the environment around them- I'm Canadian (16yo) and the US is overall similar to Canada...the main thing is that you're living in different housing (your local area changes). I moved back for a year and had a lot of daily habits change.

half-way through reading this comment I was so scared for you but the turnaround is great to hear!! I'm hoping to move to SF soon, do you have an opinion on the culture of its neighbourhoods?

ohh thanks! silly question then. feels a bit creepy to browse individual acc's w/o permission but HN offering publicising ur favourites as social makes sense!

agree, apple’s brand is known as more exclusive and private than google’s & anyhow google had a lot of backlash “recently” regarding ai (ie in the New Yorker) so apple should frame its comparative advantage of privacy as a gap from competitors’ offerings

If you're in accent-modification//speech-language pathology, having clients use a Golden Speaker tech could get them to a native-like speech in a target language faster than having them simply mimic speech from just any native speaker.

A Golden Speaker= corrected accent, similar voice identity= easier to mimic

Step 1. Record themselves reading a given sentence (phonetic pangram) aloud. Step 2. Have the Golden Speaker system generate a Golden Speaker for them Step 3. Use their Golden Speaker to read aloud any text or convert their speech in real time

"Baby Frankie" has...terminated as of yesterday. The new iteration is called "Frank". (Frank/ie is growing up, you see)

a Golden Speaker technology that would help users adopt a native-like accent faster! contrary to the current norm in the speech-processing field (esp regarding voice conversion), where voice identities are lost, voice identities would be kept.

We generate a "Golden Speaker" for you -> You record yourself saying a sentence (a phonetic pangram), we keep your accent which represents your voice identity but we correct your pronunciation and then you have a Golden Speaker system. This may be in the form of a TTS or a real-time accent conversion technology.

the above has a provisional patent attached to it, but obviously that doesn't mean anything. & because I'm 16 and know very little so far, I'd very much appreciate any input on the above idea (it's currently a waitlist @ https://loxai.tech). esp if anyone's in linguistics or AI, lmk your opinion!

love the locally run part! I also happened to fall down bit of a rabbit hole and ended up looking at Wasp; with LLMs becoming increasingly generalist having a programming language that has a broader coverage over a user's personal tasks is perfect!! good luck with both Open Vibe and Wasp

Hope you guys are doing great!! I’m 16, and here to share an emerging tech that would help users adopt a native-like accent faster :

In 1990, the first research paper regarding Golden Speakers came out proving their efficacy in helping individuals build native-like accent in a target foreign language. A "Golden Speaker" refers to another person with proper pronunciation but a similar voice identity.

With today's technology, a user's "Golden Speaker" can be generated-> You record yourself saying a sentence (which would be a phonetic pangram), we keep your accent which represents your voice identity but we correct your pronunciation and then you have a Golden Speaker system. This may be in the form of a TTS or a real-time accent conversion technology.

furthermore, if you would like to get early access to a real-time accent conversion technology to be able to go from Point A (foreign accent) to B (native-like accent) faster, you can sign up at loxai.tech.

would very much appreciate input on this idea especially from those in AI and linguistics

"But they are very loud about it." haha yes. Social media seems to be largely centered around ego today- it is interesting to see how our need for validation has somewhat shifted from at least presenting ourselves as uprighteous to aggressively calling attention upon ourselves by being rude.

This actually reminds me of an article https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/2025/12/ai-companionshi.... "“We believe that there is no material problem—whether created by nature or by technology—that cannot be solved with more technology.” In this same spirit, Zuckerberg began to suggest the idea that AI chatbots could fill in some of the socialization that people are missing."

I'l probably have to think about this more to see if there's any logic behind it but maybe there's a connection with us oscillating between social media and social networking...?

also you know how Mirror Theory...or maybe Plato's Cave where the shadows are what we see of real objects...is about how our "realities" are heavily filtered representations of the external world? maybe we somehow feel that, as a bottom line, it doesn't matter what the representations of social connection are? and if we perceive AI as a source of social connection...

Completely agree with what yepyoukno said about finding people with issues that match your skill set! Regarding the first line "Find people with real problems you can solve," I was going to add that, while there's less of a "guarantee" that you will see a return from your work, you could fix a problem for someone (or a company) and email them sharing it. If they like it, they might just offer you further work (could also be in the form of an internship).

This isn't an alternative to the more concrete process yepyoukno mentioned- it's just an additional idea. In the age of AI, teams are dramatically scaling down (whether this be ir/rational is a different topic). There is a risk that no one is open to having to working with another developer (and paying them) unless you contribute something truly creative, such as a unique take on a problem they're experiencing (lots of info on the web). Rooting for you!!

thanks for posting this- really interesting to read! also I agree with the your point on racism. Anything termed "unchecked" tends to stem from stereotypes- either about age, race, or socioeconomic status etc. Allegedly, America is a meritocracy but funnily enough some ideas are labeled as just coming from an "Indian" as you noted. In regards to your last paragraph, Nietzsche's Daybreak featured "The higher we soar, the smaller we appear to those who cannot fly."
