How is Airbus doing meanwhile? I didn't hear about any production quality issues in their aircraft.

Never had a paper rejected for lack of reproducibility though. And as long as I am working for the PhD and not the long term career, it's still better to focus on the short term. I don't like it, but I feel that's where I ended up :(

Here's most of Europe, but mostly based on interpolated schedule data:

https://travic.app/?z=6&x=1652866.9&y=6336146.8&l=osm_standa...

It's also great to see the utter mess that DB organization is. I found their live tracking on [1], but it can only be ordered as a product to embed somewhere, they don't show it on their site. Then there is the random https://www.bahnhof.de/, which seems to collect information about train stations. But if you want to schedule your trip or buy a ticket, you'd better get the DB Navigator app, which is not available as a web version. FML.

I wish there was some standard way to add DC wiring in parallel to AC. Seems like people who want to do this have to roll their own systems for now.

> if you're working on something collaboratively you need to express intent in your commit messages!

100%! And if somebody cannot communicate the intent, there is a high chance they don't understand fully what they just did.

689Wh/mi is 428Wh/km... that is utterly insane energy use. My Zoe (small car) needs 150Wh/km in winter and I wouldn't get a car above 200 or 250.

How would you detect and track somebody with a faraday bag?

This is false. The Nordics use way more heat pumps than the rest of Europe:

> With the worst of COVID behind us, annual deaths for all causes should be back to pre-pandemic levels — or even lower because of the loss of so many sick and infirm Americans.

Since we now know that Covid can lead to long-term suppression of the immune system and that a significant part of infected people have other lingering issues, this is obviously false.

> nuclear is always on

When is peak energy demand during the day/month/year?

> nuclear can be built anywhere

Like Fukushima? How do you handle lack of cooling water during droughts (see France 2022)?

> doesn't kill animals

How many animals get killed by wind farms roughly?

> is safe and effective

What is the cost per MWh including building cost + waste disposal costs?

Oddly enough they don't state what the problems are. Meanwhile the ADAC (German car club) find that EVs have similar defect rates in components they share with ICE while having less engine issues. Overall, they conclude there is insufficient data for a meaningful statistic at this time:

Renaults unofficial slogan is " tous les jours un bruit nouveau", which means "every day a new noise".

... which is not that wrong with the Zoe. Especially the E-brake has some bark to it.

This instantly loses the main selling point: Massive audience. If they manage to get 20% of people to pay (which would be huge) they'd lose hundreds of millions of viewers still.

> there is no military incentive for this

* Precision landing of large amount of troops, anywhere

* Ability to lift 250 tons -> precision landing of tanks and artillery, anywhere

* Deployment of kinetic impactors from space

> Surging olive oil prices, driven in part by two years of drought in Spain, has meant opportunity for criminals across the Mediterranean.

i.e. we are beginning to see the impacts of climate change on the food supply in Europe.

From what I heard it is very exciting for tank crews, but not necessarily in a good way.

> I tell everyone to move to firefox, help them set it up and most are convinced.

That already helps significantly. :)

> I have nothing to say so don't host

A fair point, probably only a small % of people on the internet need to actualyl host something. There is some middle ground with federated hosting like write.as , so hosting is not always needed.

Well, the Commission is elected by the elected governments of the member states. In a similar fashion, many heads of state are voted in by the elected government and not directly. Both procedures can be seen as iffy, but for the EU this was a deliberate compromise to get potential members on board.
