Well I was deemed to have pushed 1 car. Pushing them slamming 5 more didn't get me past the first level.

Yeah I don't like alarms and random beeps. I now have a Peugeot 106. The only thing that beeps is the cd player to remind me to remove the front plate. I need to sort that. Grrr.

Because they like tech? Are now working in tech?

Both fields combine creativity with technical know how. It wouldn't surprise me if there were loads of wood and metal workers here too.

I believe pine/the community worked on that. They may have some how tos / pointers.

Is this not more of a shell than an os?

Nevertheless an interesting idea. Unix pipes are basically concatenative, I've often thought how much mileage you could get out of going more in this direction.

Having said that. This has a lot of forth in it. (Dup, over, rot) I'm not sure the forth way, of passing options in the stack would necessarily work so well in a shell.

Recording off the TV isn't pirating. Why do you think they were allowed to sell blank tapes and later hard drive recorders?

If he's selling copies then maybe. But for personal consumption that's legal.

The term pirate is already expansive enough. I don't think we need to expand it into legal activities.

Was he a pirate? Or did he just record off TV?

He was born in 1890. Wasn't it/ negro basically accepted terminology back then?

As such, we can't really complain when people use acceptable words of the time.

KYC? The only context I know it from is 'Know your customer' in banking.

What has complex code got to do with it?

Trusting trust was based on old C. You don't get much more minimal than that.

Yes.

If you want to do foo. You don't need framework bar to load baz or call home to qux.

That's all added complexity that isn't inherent to the task.

So we aren't talking about not doing bar. We are talking about not doing all the other things that aren't for the benefit of the user.

> (This should not be understood as "just be overly hostile" because simply being a dick doesn't provide any data at all.)

If you're a dick for a reason, you're still being a dick. (Your word not mine)

And I don't see how your approach makes discourse any better.

To me the parents question was reasonable. Skeuomorphism was designed for people that may never have seen a computer before. Do we need to still be clicking a floppy disc to save a file?

There's probably differences in how you define flat design. You could include all the issues of current implementations in that definition, or you could say that the burger menu is just bad UX and could be fixed without going back to skeuomorphism.

But you haven't really delved into that.

I think you're being overly hostile.

The parents question seems reasonable to my non designy mind.

Why only 2?

Disappointingly this isn't the origin of the English word slang. It seems to be of Viking origin.

Ah but maybe having an iPhone causes you to be more exposed to financial crashes.

Or maybe the type of person that buys iPhones also spends too much on other items causing them to be over leveraged when a financial crash does occur.

How is all regulation anti competitive?

Is it anti competitive that your product does what you say it does and is safe? Isn't that just levelling the playing field by allowing consumers to make rational choices?

What about regulation designed to make sure there is competition? Is that anticompetitive???
