The author addresses exactly this in the postscript of his article.

I think you misslopped something. The slop you linked actually deletes '404' bookmarks and does not offer JSON export.

Your description is not accurate and quite misleading.

>QuickVPN runs entirely in your browser

Like I said: What do you mean with this? You did not build a "VPN" that runs in the browser. Your extension sets up a web proxy.

And worse:

>or log user data.

You're implying you're running some kind of "no log" service which is false.

>QuickVPN runs entirely in your browser

What does that even mean? This AI-coded extension uses a Cloudflare worker to generate API keys for the proxy service "webshare.io". It then uses the Chrome proxy API (https://developer.chrome.com/docs/extensions/reference/api/p...) to set up a Webshare proxy server.

>or log user data

Webshare.io log everything they can, as expected (https://www.webshare.io/privacy-policy)

Thanks for this!

Sam Henri Gold's readme is really funny, especially in comparison to Fartscroll-Lid's soulless AI emoji slopfest of a readme.

>not the other way around

Exactly. I think that's important to know before people start giving out their Signal handles left and right because they think they're anonymous now.

>How will they be able to link...

By "link" I mean they immediately know what person the username belongs to iff they already had that person's phone number because the chat that is initialized after they scan the QR code is just the old chat being continued.
bertman

Yeah, so they will indeed be able to link my phone number to my username, even if the number is set to "hidden".

This sounds unfortunate, but I guess there's no way around this as long as Signal insist on keeping phone numbers as primary identifier.
bertman

But will the other person really have two distinct chats with me in their list then? One with my username and one with my phone# ?
bertman
·2 lata temu·discuss
If I'm reading this correctly, this also means that a person that already has my phone number in their contacts will necessarily be able to link my number to my username after they have scanned my QR code.

I'm eagerly awaiting the Kotlin implementation of age[0] because once that's finished, Android Password Store[1] will be able to offer age encryption next to/ instead of gpg.
