Interesting. I was literally just trying to get a GTD system going in a claude project with a Notion connection when the Notion connector suddenly quit working and rendered the chat session useless. Prior to that I was chatting with claude about how to set this up and I was able to hook that chat up to Notion where it set up the whole structure, only to have the claude project completely blind to the stuff just created in the regular chat. I still don't know how I fixed that other than maybe just relaunching the Claude app. I don't really understand why you can't just have Claude write info into text documents inside a project. It is weird to me that you have to either wire it up to an external service or trust that is capturing information properly in memory files you can't see or use claude code with a git repo, but then syncing between mobile and multiple computers can be cumbersome.

Yeah, I can't shake the feeling that while AI is exciting and can unlock new solutions to problems, too many uses of it will actually make our lives worse. The best uses of the technology seem to be when it enables coming at something from a whole new direction, not the cases where it is just directly replacing something we were doing before.

I've been wanting a device that would notify me when it detects that I am getting emotional. Particularly if my heart starts pounding and my voice is raised. I was hopeful that Amazon's Halo would be that device, but it's voice analysis was not always on and you had to go look at it after the fact.

I always like Adam Taylor's write-ups.

I don't have any silver bullets and often find myself in a similar circumstance as you. Here is what I can suggest as possible courses of action. First, have you considered seeing a counselor? YMMV, but if you find the right one they may help you work through the not so obvious sources of that "what's the point" feeling. Second, read as much as you can on the subjects of motivation, burn out and happiness. I'm currently reading "Smarter, Faster, Better" by Charles Duhigg and there is interesting stuff in there about how lack of choice can lead to lack of motivation. This is just one example of a deep subject however which is why I suggest reading a lot and see what you identify with. Personally, I'm also a big fan of "The Happiness Trap" by Russ Harris. Good Luck.

Couldn't the opposite also be true though? Not having a product that is heavily integrated into the U.S. supply chain means the U.S. may not come to your aid when your neighbor invades.

Came here to say the same thing. Having my old laptop board be a NUC for another screen somewhere seems like a good idea.

Not just charming, but also makes me feel like they value my money and want to make sure it goes toward the mission. It's easy to say "hire a production company", but personally, I can put up with a clunky PR event if they use the savings to keep pushing the mission forward.

"And if eink weather displays in the bathroom are unappealing to you, I just don’t understand what you’re doing here."

This made my morning.

I wouldn't say I have "stopped", but my productivity has improved greatly after I went through this course: https://www.drdavidmaloney.com/procrastination-course-101 Procrastination is a psychology issue and some of the things that cause it are counter intuitive. This course gave me a toolbox to both recognize and deal with the different causes.

I can't be the only one that now has "1,000,000 Watts of Love" in their head. https://youtu.be/8762fLbTywI

I am by no means an expert, but this reflects my dabbling with XBRL. It seems like a giant time suck that would require too much curating to make useful.

I'm a big fan of quantum leaps (www.state-machine.com) for c++ embedded. I am not affiliated with them in any way, just had a great experience with it.

Keep at it. You may just need some persistence. Have any of the people you have trained gotten jobs? Do you have any kind of network to leverage? Can you follow up with your client and make sure they are satisfied and if so do they know others that could use your services? I would scrounge up paying work wherever you can get it and use that to build from rather than churning "Tutorial Hell". IMHO, delivering stuff worth paying for is more valuable than building skills through tutorials. Not that both aren't worth doing, but I would be biased toward things you can get paid for while you build your skills, network and portfolio.

Can't the reverse also be a problem? If you must have definitive proof that climate change directly caused an individual problem, then climate change will never meet that criteria until things are so bad that it is obvious and too late to do anything about it.

Thanks for sharing. I've been in the "wane" stage recently and your story gave me some things to consider.

That was not my experience. I LOVED this game when it came out. It was so different from everything else and the smooth motion was just something I hadn't seen before.

I really like the "Optimizations That Didn't Work" section. This type of information should be shared more often.
