I guarantee you you put a $15/hr person in that site and you barely notice a difference compared to a billionaire.

Why is it appalling? if you want to promote people having kids then this is one of the ways to do it. a kid can live sharing rent or with his parents, an adult cannot.

"Go to a Facebook profile, and ponder what we have now. Instead of having adventures into the great unknowns of the web, we instead now spend most of our time on social networks: boring, suburban gated communities, where everybody’s “profile” looks exactly the same, and presents exactly the same content, in the same arrangement. Rarely do we create things on these networks; Instead, we consume, and report on our consumption. The uniformity and blandness rival something out of a Soviet bloc residential apartments corridor. And now adding to that analogy, we’ve found out that our government is actually spying on us while we’re doing it, in ways the Stasi could only dream of. The web we have today is a sad, pathetic, consumption-oriented digital iron curtain, and we need to change that."

Exactly what I felt when Youtube removed the ability to customize your channel in 2011, deleted my by then fairly large channel in protest (3000 subs in 2011 was alright sized)

I don't really use my phone as a software developer, mostly because I have my pc with me all the time and pretty much all software is better on pc than on phones (thanks Apple/Google).

I don't really know what people are doing to be addicted to their phones? maybe you're just addicted to social media? find other hobbies...

Chrome became defacto because of techies and now techies are actively destroying the web by no longer swapping people to firefox, I guess it doesn't matter anymore, activism in general is dead, people just sit and let us all enter into a dystopia willingly.

Cannot wait until unskippable ads even with "Premium" are a thing, just like cable, and our community will have been complicit in enabling it

Brosky sold twitter and before he sold it it went from the best to the worst social media, why on earth would I go back there? Elon might be cringe but Twitter is legitimately less neurotic nowadays than it was before he sold it.

Germany is legit the one country in the western hemisphere doing the most damage to the future, and I am surprised how nobody calls them out on it.

1)Turning off nuclear and cancelling plans for new plants because literally their party, the "green party" originated as an anti nuclear party, so of course they don't care and just do it for political reasons.

2)E-Vehicles from US and China threatening Germany's old guard that refuses to adapt? who cares about the environment then.

Remember them falsifying reports and getting away with a slap in the wrist?

Which is why I go out of my wave to use sponsorblock and anti thumbnail addons.

I'm not watching your embedded ad noty, there's a reason why LTT shadowbans anyone who mentions it

Phones are a literal hellhole to utilize compared to desktop, which is why I very literally do not buy any smartphone other than the low end 2017 one I still own. Even "sideloading" is fairly trash on itself, just let me pick any appstore whatsoever and install out of the box, no need to "sideload".

Section 230 should not apply to AI, don't care what any "techbro" thinks, it was not meant for AI and if there should be any protection for AI it should be drafted explicitly for it.

Last E3 was just horrible so in my opinion I'm glad it's gone, rather than overstay its welcome.

Think about it this way.

Every service has access to the IPs you've used to log on, most services require an email, phone number some debit/credit cards and or similar personal info. Link that with government databases on addresses/real names/ISP customers and you basically can get most peoples accounts, on virtually any service they use.

We then also have things such as the patriot act in effect, the government could if they wanted run a system to do this automatically, where every message is scanned by an AI that catalogues them.

I have believed for some time now that we are extremely close to a complete dystopia.

There really should not be any reason at all for billionaires to exist, if you can find one then that alone means your government is not good enough and needs improvement, NOT that billionaires need to exist.

Ah yeah, this sounds like such a great thing, state of the art unreleased tech + 1 trillion parameters based by data accessed by the patriot act.

Such a wholesome thing. I don't want to hear 2 years from now how China is evil for using "AI" when the government is attempting to weaponize AI, of course other governments will start doing it as well.
