I looked at leaving the US years ago. Australia was on my short list after spending some time in Melbourne. Alas MS is one of those things that makes immigration harder nearly everywhere because it "puts an undue burden on the health system". Never found a way around that aside from maybe marrying a local; it's been a while.

Glad he's getting the treatment he needs!! Drugs have made incredible advances in the last decade.

I have MS and receive an Ocrevus infusion every six months. It's a labyrinth of a process. UHC (insurer) sub-contracts(?) to CVS Caremark to provide specialty drugs. CVS insists on calling me to confirm they can ship it to my house. F no! I'm not running an IV for myself. Sort it out with the hospital.

Last go around, the hospital coded the drug as coming from their supply instead of CVS so I got a surprise bill for $130,000+

Luckily, I've been through the process so there's records of the normal billing path. I fought the Hospital billing department and 5 months later I'm billed $700 which was about the expected amount.

It was still stressful and time consuming to figure out if I screwed up to the tune of 6 figures.

Learned this years ago when trying to get a place in the Gartner magic quadrant for a small software shop. Was a pointless cash and resource drain.

We kept a data closet in Manhattan in a sister building to 33 Thomas. Customers would ask for a BRP. We had N+2 for data level stuff and higher but some customers would get hung up on not having second location. We took the stance if the facility fails we all have bigger issues.

We had one 18 minute issue in the ten years of use. It was the best facility we ever used.

Even worse is "pre-tipping" like in UberEats. As you place an order you're asked if you'd like to tip your driver before you get your delivery.

I typically add 10% cuz if i don't my Uber rating goes down and i get less rides when i need them so it's more than blackmail. It's extortion. As well as a reason not to have one-app-to-rule-them-all

It infuriates me when i add a tip and the driver f ups. I've had the wrong food delivered. Or delivered 20 minutes after the far end of a delivery estimate window.

Uber will refund you on the food that didn't get to you but don't refund your tip.

Neat work on this implementation.

The stormworks community has some amazing gyro/telemetry/PID/auto pilot controllers done in LUA of all things. Managing a helicopter in transitory flight with LUA is never something i thought i'd do.
