I don't know, I feel like some of the more pressing features of this browser are already provided with add-ons such as Vimium. And I would really like to see this on a Firefox back-end / compatible with the likes of uBlock origin. I don't want to have another chrome derivative that has a fancy new UI to boast.

Hm, not sure if I did something against that already, but for me the option in about:preferences was unchecked and also I am unable to check it. I am not sure why that is, anyone has an idea?

I would not exactly expect innovation.

I would expect: fair pricing, local (as in the country you live in) hosting (for legal reasons), features like using your own domain, maybe service for calDAV cardDAV etc. to tie up the bundle.

Also no user data aggregation, no excessive logging, etc.

Really, the one thing I would look for to recommend this to others is having that _and_ ease of use for non-techies.

"oh sorry, the computers at fault here, cant do nothing about it" - god I hate that line of reasoning. Its your system, so its your responsibility.

The deletion of the account would not delete commits associated with it. The commit would still contain everything potentially malicious, plus a reference to an account that would be deleted. Which is actually worse, you cant track what code a malicious actor has contributed (easily). So the correct thing to do is take away login / deactivate the account, and then start going through all contributions and check them via the account that references all of this.

I could see someone perceiving the usage of the word condom in this context as negatively connotated. Its not the word condom that is wrong in itself, its more to do with devaluing a condom and the usage of such.

See, to make a more practical example, if one has sex and uses a condom its not nice to think of it like a subsidiary company that is used to keep off the results of GDPR violations on your behalves. The usage of condoms should IMHO be viewed in a more positive light.

edit: forgot an "of"

I'm just waiting till the first customer of some shady contract binding them to a greedy software company would use that to declare a payment as illegal and therefore that they cannot make it. Would be funny news like "XYZ says it cant pay oracle, declares it a ransom payment" :D

I am not that mutch of TUI interface user myself but I can recommend taking a look into ranger. Its a file manager with vi-like key binds that I enjoy because its for me a way faster way to explore in the terminal. It cuts the whole ls - cat - less - vim - cd workflow to a couple of keypresses and nice customizable previews in the terminal while browsing.

You do know that Antifa stands for Anti Fascism and is a political movement not a defined group, right?

I think because MS and others are approached by Universities because of things they promise businesses.

For example: A rather large University in town got hacked. They ran their own infra till then and, as it happens, caught on of the "give me money or your infra is dead" things. Afterwards a lot of not so tech and security savvy folks that where in charge of handling the rebuild and aftermath where eager to shift the blame and damage in the future - especially since said town is located in a GDPR country. In comes MS and gives the same promise as to every other entity: "Buy us and never worry about accrediting your own infra or software solutions. Also conveniently point to us when shit happens".

Edit: wording

Hello, I use tab groups to be more productive.

Why, you ask, use tab groups instead of OS windows? The same reason you use tabs in the first place instead of OS windows, to have another layer in the toolkit. I don't want to have 17 windows kicking around for all 17 different topics I put on hold and treat like temporary bookmark folders till I somewhen use them again or declare finished. At time having like 500+ tabs combined (currently 220 - the plug-in even counts and is compatible with my TreeStyleTabs :).

Mostly I use it to keep tabs for tickets sorted, but I if there are topics/contexts not associated with a ticket I use it to track that as well. For example I have a tab group for breaks - I keep all the fun and non productive bits in there and later I can go back to work without loosing the sate of it.

If they would be smaller, e.g. a new startup on the marked, I would agree. But currently its the defacto place for your music to put if you want an audience. I would argue that one with that much marked power should be held accountable for such actions, e.g. with stronger marked regulations preventing arising monopolies.

Without having any specific information on the matter at hand: revisionist history does not need fabricated facts. Its very possible to revision history by omitting crucial parts. Hence the letters might be genuine and someone revisions history by leaving out other relevant information.

Could you give a hint to the employer or the industries you talk about? Surely if an employer wants to very very securely lock down the workspace they would just tell employees to come to office and design that like a fortress, right? I mean I know companies that have metal condensed onto the windows to prohibit mobile reception, but why regulate your home like that?

Ever heard the story of cambridge analytica and the 2016 election? Granted, its an extreme of the system, but there are quiet some actors willing to pay for such services.

>legitimate interests

No, telemetry is not something MS needs to fulfil the primary purpose of VS Code. Best example is that the OSS version is there, without any telemetry enabled by default, still doing by and large the same job.

Well, we are talking about GDPR. Setting a date to comply by is part of the enforcement of the GDPR afaik. I bet someone is setting points of a legal case, e.g. MS can say "oh no one explicitly stated a set date and GDPR" - now they cant use that excuse.
