I did not wrote this for the few people taking the money from the majority. I wrote this for the majority of people thinking they can win just to give it to you.
It is very possible to lose money betting on the obscure stuff. I'm not going to say what exactly but its just luck and you compete with all the other poeple thinking they can make a quick bug.
The mistake is, that at the end of the day, to get an 'edge' means:
1. You take the money from someone else
2. You have to spend so much time on this topic, that it becomes a job
3. Its still more risky, less awarding and just gambling than having a carrier within a proper profession
4. Don't let get draged into this gambling shit by people telling you how easy it is. Their main motivation to do so is to get your money
5. You are never the person who has the good odds. Not in poker, not in a casino, not online.
I was good before but i did excersize for google interview for 2-3 month.
I actually overdid the learning as i assumed that the coding questions can't be that easy.
But at the end of the day, i'm still not working for google because yes the coding questions are not that hard but you have to convince 5 different people that you are a good fit.
Suddenly you excersize for learning how to know what the interviewer wants from you.
Is that wasted time? Definitly not. Loved the more focus learning approach.
Also, i'm now 10 years working in that industry, you don't stop looking for a new job. That interviewing skill is critical.
I'm not talking about 'science' which is sho shaky as to be blown over by some crackpots.
The science for 'we are not on a flat earth' is here. We still have YouTube Channels saying otherwise without being able to prove it at all. And they do create issues in our society.
I would prefer to add an amendment to allow to censor extreme views contradicting modern science knowledge.
It is, indirect, what happens and to be honest, i do believe that people doing the youtube videos about aliens and flatearth have often enough some agenda.
It hurts our society and we need to find a proper solution.
Thats what you pay in a private setting when you do it by yourself.
I can do from bare metal to frontend everything. That still doesn't mean that if i need to pay someone doing that, its 10$/month.
When you grow from 'i do that in my time with my ressources and i'm not paying myself anything' to 'i now have an employee and that person actually needs real money every month' you pay more then 10$/month.
Server: 50,- $ per Month
Server for HA: 50,- $ per Month
Keeping it up to date (like 1-3h per month): 300,- $ per Month
Setup & Backup: 10h? 1000$ initial cost
On-Call: Probably not affordable for a small company.
I do get it, it sounds like a super small amount they need to pay to keep this afloat but still, you don't know how much development they put in before and how much maintenance they have after.
Assuming that keeping Servers up-running should not cost any money, is a weird assumption.
Yes i also find it very bewildering that people pay for XBox, PS4 and Nintendo but thats because i'm a generation where it was not typical at all to pay monthly for infrastructure. But i originally had unlimited gmail space, so...
Gambling means someone has to lose.
It is not a job. It is not a way to earn money. It is a way to take money from others.
The majority of people have to lose, otherwise it wouldn't work for the few people trying to get all theothers to 'play with them'.
And yes i think poker is one of the 'fairest' 'games' but the same issue applies.
Imagine everyone winning in poker. Go figger
